THANK YOU AND IDEAS PLEASE!

Thank you

Thank you to every supporter, fosterer and collectors who meet the van this weekend to collect dogs and bring all the amazing donations. We would love to get some of the gathered goods to our charity shop in Essex, plus any nearly new or new items you could donate. Christmas is a very very expensive time for us with many extra dogs coming in, so any fund raising items would be fantastic.  If you can help with this or if you can transport anywhere across the UK either to or from Many Tears please email Janet Mains at janetmains@btinternet.com.

Any ideas????

It's been an obvious problem for 5 years now that the path leading to the office is not wheelchair or pushchair friendly or really even passable. I really want to get this either tarmacced or concreted but there is never enough spare cash for this and it could well cost £1000. If anyone knows a tarmac or concert company that would dump their remaining unwanted loads here we could do this in parts. Has anyone any contacts, or time to write to the companies for me? It would make many very happy and be so much nicer on the dogs paws.  Please email info@manytearsrescue.org if you can help.

LILY'S LOTTO

Hi Lily here I have been working hard sending out reminders for Lily's Lotto. The next draw is on the 4th December and I have got sore paws from all that typing! Thank you to all my doggy friends, cats and the chicken who have there names in the draw! We have never made the 500 names that I would have liked but we gave Many Tears £1,500 this year.  Don't forget you can still enter before the 4th December.  To find out more click here.
Lots of Licks and paws crossed you win!

NORMAN

You may remember Norman who we rescued some time ago from going for meat. Norman is a Welsh Mountain Section A type pony and is just over a year old. All his vaccines are done and he has been castrated. He now leads, ties, you can pick his hooves and he is excellent with the farrier. He is only up for homing if we can find a home better than the one he has here. He will need a home that has time to handle him every day. He is used to good shelter as hates the rain. At 3-4 I want who ever adopts him to sign to say they will break him to harness as I feel this will help guarantee him a home forever if his homeever falls through.  He will also need company of another horse or more. He is still very playful. He is also very special.

If you can offer Norman a home please call the rescue on 01269 843084 or email Sylvia at
sw.vanatta@virgin.net.

ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE?

ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
Serren is indesperate need of a home but is struggling to find one.
Ben is a dog behaviourist and Kirsty is a vet nurse, here is what they had to
say about Serren.

SEREN

Seren is a beautiful Rottweiler who takes time to trust you.  She is very unsure at the moment after losing her home. She enjoys her walks here at the centre, but she will need an experienced owner as she can become aggressive towards other dogs if not handled correctly.  Here she walks past and with other dogs with no problem but any bad behaviour is corrected so she knows what is expected of her. She is very clever and easy to train.  She knows commands in Welsh and English this proves how clever she is. She likes to work for food and this could benefit a new owner in building her trust in people. To find out more about Seren click here

JERRY

23-11-09 Jerry has a sad story to tell.  He is around 3 years old and was handed into a vets as the bottom part of his leg had been chewed off.  He had probably been caught in a trap and done this to save his own life.   Anyway Jerry had such infection eating up the bone that the leg and shoulder blade was gangrenous and all had to be removed.
His one dream is for a person and a home to call his own but unfortunately he has been returned to the rescue because he has had some food and toy possessiveness with the people's other dog. He is now completely disorientated, confused and extremely sad - he is finding it hard to be in kennels after being in a home.  This boy needs a home DESPERATELY. He will need to have human friends that can work with his food and toy issues. He have been told that he was clean in the house whilst in his new home.  Jerry is in great need of a very happy ending please help him if you can.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.

If you are adopting a puppy you will need to provide details of training classes in your area. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £150 for dogs at the centre.

TRUCKER

BEING FOSTERED IN DUNDRY, BRISTOL

10-11-09 Trucker is a 7 month old terrier who was lucky to be saved from the pound before he was put to sleep. We don't know much about him but what we have observed and we defiantly know is that he loves a cuddle. He's very good with other dogs and is sharing a kennel with another little terrier - Twist.

23-11-09 UPDATE

Trucker looks like a corgi x terrier. He is really wiggly and soft and loves a cuddle. He's been ok with my cats but I think if you had a cat that ran he might chase it, however I don't think he'd hurt it if he got it. He doesn't seem to have a bad bone in his body.  He loves to play with all dogs, regardless of size. Trucker has slept in a crate from the day he arrived, and although we had a couple of accidents on the first few nights, he's now clean through the night and mostly clean in the house.
He's great with kids and is happy for them to remove him from the sofa if they've run out of space - he doesn't grumble at them at all. Sadly for Trucker he is one of those dogs you need to meet to appreciate just how cute he is.  He suffers from the same thing that my last foster dog Bingo did and that is lack of appeal.  What I can say though is if you want a nice all round dog that you want to be part of the family or just a companion for yourself then Trucker is your boy!

Being fostered in Dundry Bristol.

DAISY

BEING FOSTERED IN DUNDRY, BRISTOL

10-11-09 Daisy is a gorgeous 3 and a half month old collie cross who was rescued from the pound before she was put to sleep. Imagine leaving your dog at a pound that only gives them a few days to find a new home. Thankfully this girl was saved and now has a second chance.  Could that be with you?

16-11-09 UPDATE
Daisy by Daisy

Here is a photo of Daisy the puppy with Daisy my daughter, Daisy has done Daisy's update for her!

Daisy is cuddly, cute, licky and funny, she wags her tail a lot, she likes to play and is very smart, but very bouncy! This dog would right for anyone (maybe not tiny kids) who likes to walk a lot and who has time to play lots with her and go to the park everyday!
 Love from Daisy xxx

23-11-09 UPDATE

Daisy is one of the smartest collie pups I've met, she is adorable, cuddly, crated trained and easy to train. She wouldn't make an ideal first dog or your average family pet unless you are collie savvy as she will need lots of things to stimulate her. Daisy gets on great with other dogs and kids and doesn't have an edge to her at all, but she does bark at the hair dryer and at reflections on the conservatory roof etc!

JEDI

BEING FOSTERED LITTLE HALE, LINCOLNSHIRE

01-09-09 Jedi is a 4 year old scared little male Jack Russell. He was literally rescued from kids using him as a foot ball. His trust in anyone and anything is minimal at the moment so he needs a lot of TLC.

28-09-09 UPDATE

Jedi is a sweet loveable boy but he has been used as a football by kids in the past and because of this he is mistrustful of kids and has and could snap because of this. He is looking for a home with no children and if any visited he would need to have his own safe place where he feels safe and secure.  His fosterer did not have a safe place for him at her house and so she has sadly decided to bring him back to the centre.
Jedi is looking for an adult home (he will make a very faithful friend) either with or without another dog.  However, if there is another dog in the house he would be better with a calm and gentle dog who does not want too much rough and tumble play.  Please give Jedi a chance he needs a home where he can learn to trust.

15-10-09 UPDATE
Jedi arrived on Saturday 10 October, first impressions were that he was very nervous, feeling sorry for himself and has been badly let down. So far he has been well adjusted and has shown no aggression or bad manners. He does not like our two larger dogs, Border Collie and std Poodle, he makes snappy noises at them if he is on a chair and they get too close. He appears fearful of them, which may be something to do with his history on the streets. However he is learning that this is not acceptable (by placing him on the floor), and these incidents are rare to nil now.
He is fine with the cavs, cockers and JRT. We have encountered children off the school bus (ages 11/15 or thereabouts) and he was not troubled at all. He loves his food and his walks and is quite happy to snooze in the sun. He does not wish to play or interact with the others. He seems quite placid and does not crave attention or exercise. He seems very attached to the men in the family and this is worrying, as he should be found his forever home as soon as possible, so that he does not get moved on any more.
We have perfected recall, with the aid of treats and he will come, nervously, he needs lots of encouragement and needs to discover what cuddles and nice things are all about. This morning he was wagging and his eyes had a little sparkle that I have not seen before, he looks softer and more relaxed. Hopefully his forever home will be found soon, he is a grand chap, and I'm sure he is capable of giving more than he will take. He could stay, but I have 9 others. LOL!

23-10-09 UPDATE

Jedi is doing really well, much more relaxed and sleeping much more. He has found himself a soft toy which he loves, a big red Santa, which is as big as he is, he 'murders' it sometimes though! I have promised that he can take it with him to his forever home. We feel that he is ready for his new forever home now, before we fall even more in love with him! preferably as an only dog, but would tolerate a small companion. He is much better mixing with our lot now, but is nervous at times around them, especially the larger ones, He prefers to be taken for a walk on his own as he doesn't like the jostling and bumping. This may get better with time, but ideally he would rather be without them. His basic obedience is progressing, he will walk on the lead, 'close' now with no pulling and his recall is very good, he loves his treats and is very trainable, he loves his food too, will have to watch that he doesn't put on too much weight!. He is still very serious at times with the woes of the world on him, he shakes at times when you pick him up, but he has definitely discovered that he likes cuddles and soft beds. Hopefully his very own mom and dad will come for him soon, so that he can have the one to one attention he so very well deserves.

08-11-09 UPDATE

Jedi is progressing well.  he has found his bark! A really deep one and lets rip when his 'daddy' comes home from work! Other than that we don't hear him at all. He is becoming more tolerant of the other canines in the family and becoming much more relaxed and happy. He likes nothing better than to be a lap dog all day and all night. His training is coming along well and we are having some wonderful one to one experiences.  He has tuned in well to the clicker and is becoming funny and adorable. He has mastered the doggie door and lets himself out when he needs.  He so loves his food he is isolated at mealtimes as he whooshes his food down, always the first to finish and then thinks he can tidy up after the others! He gets so excited it's the best part of his day.
Adorable and delightful are not words that I thought I would be using for him but there you are - he is!  He is also receptive to learning, happy to please and on the whole a pleasure to have around. I so hope his new mum and dad will come forward soon.  He has so much to give to the right people. He really deserves to be the number one in somebody's life.

15-11-09 UPDATE

Jedi is improving wonderfully. Every morning he is full of the joys now. He and Paisley have a good play and then collapse asleep together. They are like downhill racers with no brakes - skidding around and whooping it up! I can certainly now say that he would have no problem living with a small friend.  He is much better with the larger dogs, but is still a little wary. I'm sure that this will also improve with time.
Jedi's toileting has also improved.  He understands now that it all has to be done out of doors and lets himself in and out the doggie door when he needs.  It's a long time since we had any accidents. All in all he is making great progress.  The only fly in our ointment is that the cats don't want to be indoors as he can chase. This is sad as they are both 15 and the weather is becoming worse.
I'm confident that I have given him time to recover from his bad start. He is much more trusting, gives love and cuddles and silly snappy kisses. There is no reason now why he cant fit in with any reasonable home and get the attention and love he is due. If he can move forward, that means that there is a space for another who needs help and rehab.

23-11-09 UPDATE
Jedi is becoming adorable!!! he has met with little children now and although a bit 'stiff' at first is making great progress and has no worries with them. he has also had a few walk sessions off lead and will come back when called, he is very curious about the big world, but does not want to be abandoned and clings to your feet at times, I'm sure when he becomes more confident he will stretch out and embrace his environment. His attitude has become really soft and cuddly, he gives loads of kisses and is waggie, smiley , happy and enjoying life. He and Paisley romp themselves tired and then crash out for a long snooze. He is so far removed from the fearful, stiff little scrap he was at first.

RIFT

BEING FOSTERED IN INGATESTONE, ESSEX

05-11-09 Rift is a 3 year old westie ex breeding bitch, She is a scared lady but with other dogs she is totally at ease. She will come round and learn to enjoy a home life given time. She will need another dog to help her so please only apply if you already have an existing dog or dogs living in the home.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company.  They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up.

23-11-09 UPDATE

Rift has been with us for a week now. She is a very sweet, gentle little girl. Although she is still timid and nervous we are catching glimpses of a loving, playful character. When she first arrived she would go rigid if touched but she now enjoys her back rubbed and ears scratched. She will hide away still sometimes but when brought back out stays with us.  She wants to be fussed but isn’t sure how to go about it.
She has been walking on an extending lead over fields where her favourite thing is to roll around (she does not stay white very long!). She panics a bit when strangers approach but after a minute will stand still and wait while you chat. If they approach her gently she will allow them to tickle her under her chin. She played with a ball for the first time today rather like a cat, she also tried to initiate play with our miserable 15 year old pug who wasn’t really interested.  She is about 90% housetrained and sleeps without a sound and clean through the night in a crate which is next to one of our dogs. She is a lovely girl but will need patience and understanding from a new owner and a kind little friend to play with.

HUTCH

BEING FOSTERED IN WESTON-SUPER-MARE, SOMERSET

10-11-09 Hutch is a 2 year old terrier who lived with Snoozie the lab and also needs a new home through no fault of his own. Huggable Hutch is an incredibly sweet little lad who is great with other dogs and is very well mannered around people. He's still a little unsure of where he is and why he's lost his home but we hope he will start to feel better soon as he makes friends with our staff and volunteers.  Hutch will make someone very happy - he is a very special boy who deserves to be in his forever home.

23-11-09 UPDATE
We've had Hutch for a week now and we are all smitten. He was really sad the day we brought him home, he found a comfy chair, curled up and turned his back on us. When he did get off the chair he just sat there shaking, it was heartbreaking to watch. He is now starting to come out of his shell a bit and is quite cuddly with us. He is still nervous when he meets people for the first time, he seems to be OK with children although he's very unsure of our toddler niece. On the plus side he is great with other dogs and and is not in the least bit interested in the cat. He's not 100% clean in the house yet but we're getting there!

REUBEN

BEING FOSTERED IN WESTON-SUPER-MARE, SOMERSET

05-11-09 Reuben is an 8 month old whippet. He and his brother were brought to us as their pensioner owner could not stop them wondering from the property. They are both just beautiful.

12-11-09 UPDATE
Reuben has been with us for a few days now and is settling in quite well. He is very friendly and loves to be cuddled.  At the moment we also have his brother here so it's been quite difficult to judge him as an individual. What we have noticed though is that he is very outgoing and confident and think he would be fine as an only dog as he doesn't seem to be too reliant on Monty. He is a really sweet dog and has got on great with everyone he's met so far.  He has met our cat and was more scared of her than she was of him. He is clean in the house but other than that has had little or no training.  I'm sure he would be easy to train once separated from Monty. He is still very playful and lots of fun.  I can honestly say i have laughed more in the last few days than I have in a long time. Reuben would make a great addition to any family.

17-11-09 UPDATE
Reuben has been with us for a week now and all is going well. His brother Monty was adopted on Saturday, and he didn't seem to be too bothered!! We thought he might be a bit lost without him but we needn't have worried. He is as confident as ever just a little calmer - which we are grateful for! We brought home another foster dog today and he welcomed him warmly. I can't understand why he is still here, we really did think he would've been snapped up straight away, Monty's new owners commented on how much better looking Reuben is in the flesh and they're right, his pictures really don't do him justice. He is starting to pay more attention to us now his brother isn't here to distract him so hopefully we will be able to teach him some of the basics before he leaves us he is a smart dog and i don't think it will be too hard. He is good with children of all ages, especially if they have a biscuit in their hand!! He still backs off from the cat if he meets her face to face, i don't know if he would give chase if she ran he doesn't stick around long enough, he runs away himself.

23-11-09 UPDATE
We thought Reuben had found his forever home last week but, unfortunately it fell through due to their work commitments, so sadly he is still waiting for a permanent home.  There's not really a whole lot more i can say about Reuben that I haven't already said - still cuddly, still clean, still a bouncy pup and still scared of the cat!! He has chilled slightly since we brought the older foster dog home last weekend, but is still playful and energetic. Just an absolutely beautiful dog, who should have been snapped up weeks ago.

ACORN

22-11-09 Little Acorn is a lovely 3 year old Shih Tzu.  She is an ex breeding girl who is now looking for a nice warm lap to curl up on. Acorn is afraid of the world and has a lot to learn about people. She's gone to a local fosterer who will give her a head start before she's adopted. She will still need another dog at home so please only apply for her if you are already a dog owner.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. 23-11-09 UPDATE

Acorn in a cute, compact, nervous little dog. She settled in well with the rest of our pack last night and at one point fell asleep on her back in my husband's arms She paces constantly when awake, either going from side to side or in a square She's not housetrained at all but used the newspaper we had put down.  Acorn loves her food, scoffing down everything that was put in her dish We have to pick her up to put her outside We know in time things will improve, she just doesn't know how.
Acorn has been following us and the dogs about so will soon get into a routine She cried in the night, again this will change, after all it was her first night with us. It has been near impossible to get any pics of her, she just doesn't stay still.  I was beginning to get dizzy trying to get those I did in the garden!
With lots of love cuddles and reassurance she will become loveable pet

FELICIA

BEING FOSTERED IN DUNDRY, BRISTOL

13-10-09 Felicia is a 3 year old Lurcher.  She is a happy go lucky girl who's ready to put a smile on everyone's face. Felicia is flawless around other dogs and would be an ideal companion for any dog that needs company or a playmate. Felicia has had her fair share of bad luck and has only half a tail. We cannot guess what ordeal she had to endure or accident befell her but either way this lovely lady has forgiven people and loves everybody!

26-10-09 UPDATE

Felicia is soooooooooooo sweet. She loves to cuddle and play, and will be the best dog ever for somebody. We believe that she may be pregnant and will be getting her scanned (although she is starting to bag up) If she is pregnant she wont be available for re homing until once the pups are weaned. She is a true sweet heart!

05-11-09 UPDATE

Felicia gave birth to 7 puppies in the early hours of yesterday morning.  Both she and they are all doing really well.

12-11-09 UPDATE

Felicia and her pups are doing really well.  She is a great mum to them and so relaxed letting me pick them up and weigh them etc.  She loves having visitors and thinks that people are just the best thing in the world. The pups now named, Flower (brindle female), Fuschia (grey female), Fresco (grey female), Flossy (brindle female), Fudge (tan female), Fern (brindle female) and Fred (grey male, yes there is only 1 boy!).  They are putting on weight nicely and they all weigh over a pound now! I just need to say though that Felicia (Fi for short) is only a small girl herself, about the height of a lab, some people have been saying she looks greyhound size in the photos and she is much much smaller than a greyhound!

23-11-09 UPDATE

Felicia and her pups are doing great, the puppies have now opened their eyes and ears and are walking (after a fashion!). Felicia is just the most amazing mum and has a great personality, she gets on with everyone, dogs and humans alike and she is even ok with my cats, her worst habit is theiving off the side in the kitchen, but that is typical of lurchers and we're working on it. She loves to go out for her runs and moves like a rocket, her recall is great and she loves nothing more than to curl up on the sofa with me and go to sleep. The pups individual photos and write ups will go on the site in a couple of weeks and they'll be ready to go just AFTER Christmas.

Being fostered in Dundry Bristol .

BEAUTIE

22-11-09 Beautie is a 5 year old Rotti who has been saved from a local pound as she was about to be put to sleep. She is a stray and so we don't know where she's come from or how she ended up at the pound. What we do know is how sweet she is.  This girl is such a soft, soppy thing that all she wants to do is give you lovely big sloppy kisses. She's very good with other dogs and is sharing a kennel with Patch our little terrier.  When she first came in she went into the office with 10 of Sylvia's dogs, from mini-poodle crosses to Wolfhounds, and behaved like an angel. Beautie has obviously had a hard life and is a little fearful of people but she has no malice in her, she has nothing but love to give.

ALSO

22-11-09 Also is a 6 year old westie who's breeders have given her up for a new home.  Also is a lovely girl and great with other dogs but she has no experience of pet life. She's never gone for walks, she's not house trained and she's afraid of people. This girl will need another dog to show her around the world so please only apply for her if you have a kind and gentle dog or dogs to be her friend.

ALLI

22-11-09 Alli is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel. She and her sisters have been kept as breeding dogs and not lived in a house.  They have now been retired and are looking for lovely pet homes. We were told by the breeder that they fought if together but these 4 girls are getting along very well in pairs. They are braver and a little more confident around people than some of the breeding girls we take in but will still need a home with another dog.

ALMA

22-11-09 Alma is a 6 year old adorable little Bichon who has retired as a breeding dog and is now looking to be loved. Alma is gentle and sweet but has never left the farm she was probably born on and is very afraid of the big, wide world.  She will need another dog at home to learn how to be confident so please only apply if you already have a kind and gentle dog or dogs who will be her friends.

BOBBY SOCKS

BEING FOSTERED IN SHIPLEY, WEST YORKSHIRE

10-11-09 Bobby Socks is a 5 month old fox look alike. She was found in the streets and had probably been raising herself for quite some time. She screamed any time anyone went near her or touched her, not with pain but with fear. She's a little better but still wets herself when frightened and will shake uncontrollably. Part of her wants to give her heart and soul and she'll crawl to you on her belly but then roll onto her back and wet herself. She will need a very special and quiet family home with a nice, calm dog to be her role model so please only apply if you already have a  dog living in the home who will be her friend.

16-11-09 UPDATE

Little Bobby Socks has gone into a foster home to try to her build her confidence and trust.  This has has a remarkable affect on her.  She is very happy to be in a home, loves her food and wants to play with the other dogs.  She is reverting back the the puppyhood she should have had.  Bobby Socks is still nervous in strange situations and we would prefer her to be homed where there are not young children who may frightened her or pull her around which is is not used to.  However, another playful dog would really help her and this little girl will become a super, devoted and wonderful pet.

22-11-09 UPDATE

Bobby Socks has been here for 8 days and what a transformation. We picked her up from the centre where she was lying on the floor shaking.  When we went near her she wet herself, it was heartbreaking. Once home she started coming out of her shell thanks to my lovely cavs. Now I'm so pleased to say she is perfectly fine.  She is living with my 2 cavs, a cat and my 8 year old daughter.
Bobby is clean in the house, loves her food and sleeps all night. She is very playful and too bouncy for my 2 cavs so a playful dog is a must for her. The only time she panics now is putting the harness on, but once on she really enjoys her walks. Bobby has captured all our hearts she is so loving and likes nothing more, after her walk, than to cuddle on the settee but be ready to be kissed. Bobby needs an active home with dogs and children who can enjoy a very playful pup.

ANITA

BEING FOSTERED IN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

05-10-09 Anita is a 3yr old ex breeding westie. Anita is a very sweet loving girl would like a home to call her own. A home that has another confident dog to help her come out of her shell so please only apply if you already have a confident and kind dog to help her and be her friend.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. 31-10-09 UPDATE
Firstly can I say Anita is a beautiful girl.  Her photo does not do her justice and I will send a new one asap.  What a lovely quiet girl she is she just loves to be beside you.
She was a little timid at first but is getting braver by the day.  She was frightened going into the car but I have worked on this and  today she went to jump in it - what a star!
Walks great on the lead and getting used to the traffic. Anita gets on great with dogs and my cats.  She truly is a joy to have.

22-11-09 UPDATE
Anita is one of the easiest dogs I have had to foster. She is coming on great. She just loves everything and everyone -dogs, cats and children. Anita as we call her, is excellent on and off the lead. Her recall is the best of all my dogs and she is a really happy wee dog. She loves going to the park and gets on with all the dogs she meets. I can't think of anything negative to say about her as she is really good. I think she could be a only dog, provided someone was around most of the time. If you are that person then fill in the application form.

HOPEFUL

BEING FOSTERED IN READING

16-10-09 Hopeful is a 6 year old Schnauzer who's breeders no longer need her to breed from. Hopeful is a nervous girl who hasn't met many people and been many places. She has a lot to learn about the world and why she shouldn't fear it and will need another dog to show her the way so please only apply for her if you already have a resident dog or dogs.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company.  They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up.

01-11-09 UPDATE
Hopeful has been with me for a week now, and for this poor darling, progress has been slow.  My household includes 5 of my own dogs and other foster dogs.  Usually any new foster dog fits right into the group, and then just has to learn about humans and the world in general, but Hopeful did not seem to know how to relate to my “pack” for the first few days, and kind of lurked on the perimeter, apparently unsure how to proceed, and just looked so sad.  But gradually she has improved, and she has become great friends with one of my other Many Tears foster Schnauzers, Anastasia.  They will cuddle up together in the same bed when snoozing and Anastasia has been teaching her new friend about treats and snacks and that it is OK to run and play in the garden with the other dogs.  Hopeful has started to come out of her shell thanks to her little Schnauzer friend and it is sweet to see, so although  she remains rather withdrawn, there is noticeable progress, albeit slow But she will get there!  It's early days yet.

22-11-09 UPDATE
Hopeful was quite slow to come out of herself, but she is doing really well now, bless her! She just needed a bit of time and understanding, although it was hard seeing her looking sad and confused in the early days, but this in all in the past! Her tail wags happily now when she gets any attention, and when she is at play with the other dogs, and she has started to play with toys! She loves to fetch a tennis ball, and to be praised for doing so. She has learned to walk on the lead, and is good at coming when called if running free in my large garden. I've not tried her in open spaces yet.
Hopeful travels well in the car now too, and will jump in and out quite readily. She is completely clean in the house, and gets along well with the other dogs, although she can be a bit bossy over chews and treats, although the other dogs seem to take little notice if she postures! One of my own cheeky Schnauzers will actually pull chews out of her mouth sometimes, but they have never come to blows over this, which says a lot for Hopeful's nature. She is also very good and gentle with my cats.
Hopeful is best pals with my other foster Schnauzer Anastasia, so if anyone wanted TWO lovely dogs... but they are by no means inseparable, and Hope would be happy with another doggy companion to continue to help her realise that she can be a happy participant in our world. It must be so confusing for dogs like her who have spent many long years in puppy farms. They have to adjust to so much so quickly, and so a canine companion is a "must". Hopeful would be worried by small children, as she still lacks confidence, but would make a lovely companion for anyone who would like to help a very nice dog to continue her learning curve about life in the world.

SHADOW

BEING FOSTERED IN ALDERSHOT, HAMPSHIRE

13-10-09 Shadow is a 2 year old male collie cross. Shadow is very friendly and can't wait to meet everyone with a waggy tail. Shadow is great with other dogs but especially likes the the company of females.  He is such a gentle boy will everyone both human and dogs we think he would probably be good with nice kids although, of course, they would have to come and meet him first!

28-10-09 UPDATE

Shadow has been with us for just over a week and I can honestly say he is one of the friendliest, happiest dogs I have ever met. He loves everybody, especially my two children (aged 9 & 13), he adores all dogs and wants to play with everyone. He is in his element with my lab bitch, she however is exhausted!
He has been completely clean in the house since day one, he loves his crate and puts himself to bed after our walks. Shadow does pull a bit on the lead but we are working on this. I'm sure it's just pure excitement as he's really really enjoying his walks and wants to make the most of every moment. I have let him off lead when walking with a friend and her dogs and his recall with a whistle has been really good. Today however, he became select with his hearing whilst having a rustle through the undergrowth in the woods. Again, we will be working on this!
It is imperative that Shadow is not homed with cats or anything furry which also includes birds. My little parrot is currently living upstairs, is now on valium and receiving counselling!!!
Shadow would suit an active family, with a friendly playful dog(s) as this boy is certainly not a 'walk round the block' collie. He has proved himself very intelligent and would benefit from a stimulating environment. He loves his cuddles and thinks he's a lap dog and just loves to be close and affectionate as you can see in the photograph! He will make a wonderful addition to a family and I really cannot recommend him highly enough.

21-11-09 UPDATE

Shadow continues to do well with us he greets everybody with a waggy tail and is completely 100% toilet trained . When he first came to us , he would pull on the lead but he is now walking much better and lead training is going well . Shadow does need work on his recall . It is such a shame to see this wonderful boy being overlooked as he is a fab dog . Hopefully soon he will find a forever home to call his own .

LIGHT

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

22-10-09 Light is a 4 year old Schnauzer who is longer needed by her breeder. Light is a lovely girl who is braver than most of the ex breeding types that we see here. She will still need another dog in her home but we expect her to learn a new life pretty quickly.  Please only apply if you already have a resident dog or dogs living in the home.

10-11-09 UPDATE
Light has only been with me for a couple of days but already she is an absolute joy! Unlike most of the ex-breeding dogs that I've cared for, she is outgoing, friendly and will actively seek to be cuddled and fussed! She has fitted in immediately with my other dogs and loves them and they her and she is equally good with my cats, bless her! She isn’t great on the lead yet, but will soon learn, especially now that she understands all about treats!
Light would fit very easily into a home as long as they have another small, friendly and confident dog to befriend her. She likes the other Schnauzers a lot but equally is very taken with my small unassertive collie girl. She is good in the car, good in the house, and easy to handle. She would fit into a family with children over 10 years as she does get startled by loud noises. She would like her new home to have a tumble dryer, please, as she is fascinated by mine and will spend long periods absorbed in watching the washing rotate!
Light is a gorgeous, loving, sweet-natured young lady who will make a wonderful dog for some lucky person.

21-11-09 UPDATE
Light has been with me for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say that she is the easiest dog I have ever fostered!  She is a very special little girl who loves everyone.  All she wants to do is to please.  She has learned to walk on the lead pretty well now, and she is so easy to handle, and just a delight to have around, but she would so love her own special someone to give her a permanent home, bless her!  She is completely house-trained, well mannered in all ways, great with the other dogs, playing with the friendly ones and respectful of the bossy ones!  She is a sweet, gentle, friendly yet undemanding little darling who so deserves a loving home.

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

07-10-09 Cherokee is a 4 year old Shih Tzu who is no longer needed by her breeders. Sadly, this girl has only one eye. She has lived with this all of her life though and copes very well. She is very sweet and will learn to love people quite quickly we think but will definitely need another dog to follow so please

22-10-09 UPDATE

Lovely Cherokee is slowly adapting to family life. When she first came here she was apprehensive and worried about everything; if you made a move towards her she would quickly scurry away with her tail tucked between her legs.  Now, although still wary of sudden movements, she walks proud, tail up in the air. Comes in and out as she pleases and chooses whatever bed she feels comfortable in.
Cherrie (as we call her), has fallen in love with my GSD, although I don't think he feels exactly the same as he looks down at her with a look as if to say go away and leave me alone!! She gets on well with all my dogs except my foster puppy as he seems to get on her nerves, so if she is going to be homed with another dog it must be an older calm dog who will be her friend. However Cherokee is not dependent on my dogs and likes human company so she could be homed as an only dog as long as someone is home most of the time.  A home with no children or older children is a must, as little ones would be too much for her. Apart from an accident the 1st night she was here, Cherokee has been 100% clean in the house. She will only eat chicken at present; and if she doesn't feel like eating no amount of coaxing will get her to!! Cherokee might not win no beauty contests, but her beauty lies within and she will make a lovely companion.

26-10-09 UPDATE
HIP HIP HOORAY - CHERRIE HAS EATEN SOME DOG FOOD TODAY!! Since she has been here Cherokee has been shown nothing but love and affection and she is now starting to return the compliment by a lick of the hand (well more of a wash really because once she starts she doesn't know when to stop!) and now when I am working at the computer she will come and curl up at the side of my chair.  She is also starting to relax more;  for instance last night she was in one of the dog beds on her back with four legs in the air snoring her head off! If anyone is prepared to put in the effort to gain her trust you will be rewarded with one of the best 4 legged friends you could wish for.

31-10-09 UPDATE
Hello everyone,
I thought I'd let you all know how I'm getting on.  I'm settling in really well with my foster family and they adore me to bits.  I return the compliment by always giving them a friendly greeting with my tail wagging, and giving lots of licks and sitting alongside for a cuddle.  When it's food time I show my excitement by bouncing up on my back legs and yes I now eat only dog food. Oh and to let you all know I always go outside for my ablutions!
My foster family keep saying I'm one of the easiest dogs they've had to stay because all I ask for is some nice food, a comfy bed to sleep in and lots of love.  Well they are right apart from one thing and that one thing is a home to call my own. My foster dad tells me "don't worry, your time will come". I hope it comes soon; not that I don't like it here but a place and family to call my own would be awesome!
He also says "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"; haven't got a clue what it means but I think he's talking about me. Anyway, must dash as it's stopped raining for a bit so I can go outside; you guessed it I don't like getting wet!
Love and licks, Cherokee x

21-11-09 UPDATE
Hi all,
I'm still waiting patiently for my forever family to come and adopt me.  Surely someone would want to share these cold winter nights with me? I was thinking of applying to go on one of these makeover shows, or perhaps getting Gok Wan to give me some advice; but hang on he'd only tell me how to look good naked and he ain't shaving my fur off!! Doesn't he realise it's winter time and I don't like the cold or the rain.
I've settled in here quite well, and I'm now willing to try different things to eat in fact I've taken quite a liking to gravy bones; I'd never had them before I came to my foster home.  Just to let you all know I'm also quite partial to a bit of ham or chicken.  I've realised unless you try it you won't know if you like it! I also surprised them this week by rolling over on my back and allowing them to rub my tummy. It was very enjoyable so I'll have to do it some more!
Anyway my comfy bed awaits so I'm off to say a little prayer (that i get adopted soon) then it's nap time for me.
 Love and licks
 Cherrie xx

Judy is an utter dream, perfect in every way! She is extremely well mannered and respectful of her surroundings, other dogs and people. She is 100% housetrained and is picking up training with great ease. She is walking very well on the lead and now gets excited at the sight of it. Judy is a proper lady with her petit frame, slender legs and pony-like trot. She’ll need another dog that is kind and gentle to show her how wonderful life is.

BELA

BEING FOSTERED NEAR MANY TEARS IN SOUTH WALES

20-11-09 Bela is a 2 year old Bishon. She has been a much loved pet but is very nervous meeting new people and dogs, resulting in fear aggression.  For this reason only she is now looking for a new home. Bela is friendly but does need time to get to know and trust you first. She has gone to a foster home where she is happily living with an older child and plays with the other foster dog and puppy. She is vocal in the home but will be quiet when told.

ROSIE

10-11-09 Sweet Rosie is a 9 month old collie type that didn't quite make it as a pure bred, same size, same brains now just needs an owner who accept that she isn't a real collie but is still outstanding. As you see she is very affectionate, she also gets on well with other dogs.

20-11-09 UPDATE

Rosie is an adorable young girl, very pretty and very sweet. She can be seen here enjoying a game of fetch. She gets on well with other dogs and very much deserves a home to call her own.

HAROLD

10-11-09 Hi! I'm Harold and I'm sorry my picture isn't great but I was so happy to get here and meet all these lovely people that I just couldn't keep still! I am an English Pointer - a thoroughbred I'll have you know and they tell me I'm about a year old. They also tell me that I've had mange, whatever that is. All I know is that I've been itching and scratching and chewing and biting and my skin feels really sore all over. They gave me something called a bath and then a massage with some really nice smelling soapy stuff and I already feel a little better. They're very nice here, although I still have to sleep in a kennel. They told me that someone might come and take me home with them but I just can't wait - hurry up and come and get me!

20-11-09 UPDATE

This pic really shows Harold's personality I think! He is a lovely happy boy, very energetic and very bouncy! He loves other dogs and considers himself to be very sociable however he needs to learn to respect other dog's space or else he will get himself into trouble. He is affectionate and walks on the lead without pulling.

THOMAS

10-11-09 Thomas is a one year old lurcher. Sadly we just cannot capture his beauty on camera. He probably has a little saluki, a little greyhound and a little Labrador in him. He has a really special head which makes him extremely handsome. I truly hope he gets noticed because as a black male, especially a lurcher, he will get passed over by many. What he needs is a diamante collar or a special bandana, or just a lot of luck.

 20-11-09 UPDATE
This is Thomas this morning, enjoying a cuddle and hanging out with his friends. Thomas is a very sweet and affectionate boy, who loves people. He loves to run of course and chases after toys. He is fine with the other dogs but doesn't like overly boisterous dogs in his face. He is calm and gentle and will make a very lucky person a wonderful companion.

DAPPY

BEING FOSTERED IN LLANISHEN, CARDIFF

10-11-09 Dappy is a very nervous collie cross and only about 4 months old. This poor boy was found as a stray, thrown out and left to fend for himself. He wets himself when picked up through fear and he really needs a good loving home that's prepared to put the work to bring him round.  If you have the time and patience to help him and maybe another gentle dog to give him confidence, please complete the application form.

20-11-09 UPDATE
Dappy is still extremely nervous and wetting himself. It breaks my heart to think what this little boy has had to endure to make him feel so threatened and scared. He has been shown nothing but love in our house and yet he is still very scared. He DEFINITELY needs another kind and gentle dog to live with as he gets on so well with my Many Tears rescue girl and she is teaching him along the way. I am hoping her happiness will rub off on him.
He is petrified of the car and constantly wets himself, so we are trying to help him overcome this. He enjoys his walks when he's with my dog, but will refuse to walk when he knows he has to go back to the car, and needs to be carried. He eats as if the food will be his last meal, so again we are working on this.
Dappy needs to go to the right home, where someone is around for most of the day, who can help him get over his fears.  Dappy needs total love and understanding. On a positive note, he is scared of my cats and hasn't chased them and he could go to a home with dog savvy older children, who won't scare him.

RUFUS

BEING FOSTERED IN NORTH SOMPTING, WEST SUSSEX

10-11-09 Rufus and his brothers are collies. They had a lucky escape when their doggy angel saved them because their mum had a litter 6 months previous which had all been killed.  Even though their angel tried to get the owners to spay their mum she had another litter but these did manage to get rescued. These are little collies with big brains and need an ACTIVE lifestyle.  If you're not quick, clever, active and happy to train and have an abundance of love to give please do not apply.

20-11-09 UPDATE

Rufus has settled in exceptionally well since day one. He has such good doggy manners that my adult dogs accepted him the moment he arrived. They have not had to tell him off for any boisterous puppy behaviour and enjoy playing with him. He ignores my cat, I think he's a bit scared of her. He doesn't hassle my chickens or small furries either. He's a very smart boy and quickly learnt to 'sit', 'down', 'come' and 'paw'.  Today he has been learning 'find it'.
He is completely housetrained now and is so clever he even does pretend wee's in the hope of getting a treat! He is great on walks and always comes back when called. He has only been on the lead a couple of times but soon learnt the best place to be is by my side if you want a treat! He sleeps next to our bed and is quiet and clean all night. He was initially unsure about our 4year old daughter but now he adores her and does all his tricks for her. I'm not sure he'd cope with a houseful of very young children.
He is happy to be left for short periods on his own, I just make sure I leave him with a tasty kong. I feel Rufus would do best in a home that would continue his training as he so enjoys learning things, even if it's just tricks. He is also easy to switch off and spends many a contented hour napping in the sun that shines through the window. He really is a great dog.

PUNKY

BEING FOSTERED IN NEWPORT, GWENT

10-11-09 Punky is a sweetie.  She is a 4ry old ex breeding female shih tzu who is happy to come up for a fuss.  We have been told by her previous owners that Punky has got nerve damage which affects her back legs make her not as strong on them as normal.  She will need another dog to help her gain in confidence about living in a home and to help her learn about house training etc so please only apply if you already have gentle and kind dog or dogs would will be her friend.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up.

20-11-09 UPDATE

Punky has been with me for 5 days and is the sweetest little girl, she is almost there with her housetraining, wags her tail non stop when you talk to her and her ears go up and back which makes her look like a bat!  Punky is fine going in and out of the garden but would not be able to master the stairs due to her slightly wobbly back legs, she also has a slight glaze over her right eye.  I gave her face a bit of a makeover so looks much prettier now.  Punky is still a little shy but getting better every day, she would be best suited to a retired person as she could get knocked by children although she can move pretty quickly when she wants to.  I use a dog stroller to take her out with mine and have not tried lead walking her yet but will in the next couple of days as she builds her confidence up.  Punky is a dear little dog and will make the right person very happy so look past her slight disabilities and come and meet her.  You won't be disappointed.

BURGER

BEING FOSTERED IN BURRY PORT, PEMBROKESHIRE

10-11-09 Burger and his brother Cheese are ten month old GSD crosses. You could mistake them for actual GSDs if you only saw their heads but when they jump up and you see their little legs you think it must have been 5 o'clock on a Friday when God put these to together and he had some spare parts that needed using up! At present they're are quite dependant on each other but they would really benefit from going to homes separately but with another dog especially a female one. If someone wanted to take on this duo we would be very happy but they would have double the trouble as they have been thrown out and lack training.

16-11-09 UPDATE
We have only had Burger for a day and every hour he finds something new to amaze us with! Firstly he travelled home perfectly in the car, jumping straight in and lying down for the 30 minute drive home quietly. Then he had a quick look round downstairs before starting to play with our older dog who he does his best to imitate. We have had one small accident in the kitchen but after that he waited patiently by the door every time he needed to wee after that. He also slept nicely in the crate, there was a little whine at first but soon settled until the morning. He is a typical puppy wanting to play and loves a fuss. Everybody who meets him falls in love and he truly is one of the best breeds in a little package.

20-11-09 UPDATE

We have had Burger for a week now and he is melting everyone's hearts. He has settled in fantastically, learning his place in the house and making good friends with the dogs and cats alike! He is a very playful puppy and relishes any toys or bones he is given to busy himself with. After an energetic day he loves nothing more than to cuddle up with you and go to sleep with his head resting in your lap. He is more like an oversized kitten than anything and could happily cuddle you all day long. Burger has had 2 accidents in the house since we began to foster him but soon knows he is in the wrong and as long as he is regularly taken out there are no problems at all. In fact he is an extremely fast learner, responding well to treat training and can now sit and understands the words leave or down. He is also learning how to play fetch but would much rather chase the other dogs around than take the ball. Burger would be a fantastic addition to anyone, whether that's a family dog or a simple companion. As long as you can offer him plenty of attention and love he will be the perfect pet.

MATILDA

BEING FOSTERED IN EPSOM, SURREY

20-11-09 Matilda is an extremely sweet 1yr old cav bitch.  She has been returned through absolutely no fault of her own but her new owner's dog would not accept another dog in the house.   As you can see from the picture Matilda is absolutely gorgeous. She loves all other dogs and would need to go to a home with another dog. She loves playing with my Springer puppy so another young dog would be ideal. Tilly walks very well on her harness and loves going out for walks. She is completely clean in the house. Is extremely affectionate a typical cavalier lap dog loves to sit on the sofa and be cuddled.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. PATCH

10-11-09 Patch is a 2 year old terrier who was found wandering the streets looking for a home. He's a very sociable fella and loves attention. When he was being transported back to the kennels whenever we walked by his travelling create he would reach through his bars and tap us on the shoulder to make sure we remember him. I'm sure he would learn tricks easily as he's very attentive and wants to please.  Another special boy waiting for that special home.

20-11-09 UPDATE

What a sweetie pie! Patch is such an affectionate and cute little fella. He walks well on the lead and loves to play too. He will chase after a small tennis ball and happily returns it to you and loves the praise that comes with it! He also likes to play tug with a soft toy and will readily release his hold. He loves his treats and this morning was learning to sit, down and target my hand. This little guy would really love a home to call his own!

BANJO

19-11-09 Banjo is a 1 year old terrier who is being given up due to a marriage break up.  He is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever hope to meet and just one look in his little cute face with his "I love you" eyes and you will be smitten. He is a real cuddle puppy who will happily spend half his day curled up on your lap while you stroke him, the other half of his day would be playing with squeaky toys as he is totally mad on them, so a huge supply will be needed as he loves to squeak them and kill them then fall asleep while you Hoover up all the debris.
He is a terrier through and through so can jump very high, will chase cats and really shouldn't be homed with small animals as he will try to get them. This aside he is a people dog and loves everyone and will kiss and lick you to death if you let him.  He is great with children of all ages, he knows basic commands and is house trained.  He has started going to training and learns very fast, he walks very well on a lead and he doesn't bark!
Banjo is currently still with his owner and needs a home or foster home asap.

LODGER

19-11-09 Lodger is a 10 year old male Jack Russell with a story to tell the will break your heart. This sweet handsome boy was owned by a man that was taken into hospital 5 years ago and ever since then neighbours have been going in to feed him! On arriving at the rescue you wouldn't believe he had been kept in a flat all that time as he was trying to play with the dogs he met here and very happy to be cuddled and fussed - all he need now is his own home with his own very special person.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire

ZEAL

 19-11-09
Zeal is a very sweet 3yr old ex breeding female westie. She loves to have a cuddle and a fuss but will need a gentle calm home so her confidence can grow. She will need a resident dog to show her the way so please only apply if you already have a resident dog or dogs living in the home.

This dog is at the main rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.

ZEST

ZEST IS NOT READY FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNTIL THE WEBSITE SAYS HE IS READY.

19-11-09 Zest is a 4 week old cavalier. He is going to a specialist fosterer as he has curvature of the spine.  Obviously at this age is he too little for any operations and until further assessed we are NOT taking applications - please only apply when the website says he is ready.

Being fostered in Kent.

SAUCER

BEING FOSTERED IN WINCHESTER, HAMPSHIRE

08-11-09 Saucer is a 1 year old pom.  This boy has grown to big for his breeder to stud and so is looking for a pet home. That said he's still very small, just larger than the breeder would like for this breed. Saucer is still young but like the rest of our ex breeding dogs needs a very understanding home, with another dog and where his family don't leave him alone for very long or very often.  Please only apply for Saucer if you already have another dog or dogs living in the house.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company.  They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. 19-11-09 UPDATE
Saucer has been with us for 3 days now and the change in him already is lovely to see. He is trying so desperately to be brave and he will now approach you and take food from your hand. If you try to go to him it turns into a bit of a game of chase but he will stop and let you pick him up ! He has little mad moments of running round the garden like a loony and will take slippers to have a sneaky play with if he thinks you are not watching.
His tail is now carried up over his back and he has even started to wag it when he see me. He has had two little accidents in the house and I have been crating him when I go out, and at night, and he is fine with this arrangement. He finds our staffy a bit too big and daunting for him, and doesn't really take much guidance from her but it would be lovely for him to have a canine buddy of similar build, so that as his confidence grows, he would have a little playmate.
Saucer is living with 3 children at the moment and has been fine around them.  I think that in time Saucer will blossom into a lively, cheeky little dog with bags of character, that will bring so much enjoyment to who ever is lucky enough to adopt him.

BRAMBLE

BEING FOSTERED IN ROSSENDALE, LANCASHIRE

04-05-09 Bramble is approximately 2 years old and has been returned because she has a habit of biting when she gets scared. She has been returned to her previous foster home and will be monitored over the next few days to assess her behaviour. Bramble has come back quite overweight however, with brisk daily walks and a sensible diet she will soon return to her beautiful, svelte-like self. Bramble is very subdued and somewhat shell-shocked at finding herself back but she really enjoys her walks despite puffing and panting all the way because of her excess weight. She did whine off and on through the night but this will no doubt stop once she’s settled back into a routine. Bramble is as loving and affectionate as ever although somewhat noisy - but what do you expect she is a Beagle!

25-05-09 UPDATE

Bramble can play a little too rough but Jack the Black Terrier mix will tolerate no nonsense and firmly puts her in her place and Bramble absolutely loves him. I’ve discovered that Bramble really enjoys wading in the river and this latest photo shows her cooling off whilst sat on the rocks.  Given half the chance she has always been very loving with me and anyone who talks to her so I’m hoping that an experienced owner will fall for her as I have because she really is a very special girl.

21-06-09 UPDATE

Over the last couple of weeks Bramble has really turned a corner. She is beginning to interact better with the other dogs in my home and they are now more accepting of her. Despite remaining vocal she is friendly to other dogs when out on our walks and people too. There remains one problem which I haven't been able to resolve yet; she occasionally gets spooked when out on our walks and it's never the same thing. Sometimes its a vehicle that spooks her or a person, man or woman (never children). When this happens she freaks out and starts barking and biting in shear panic. If I didn't take a firm hold of the lead there's a chance she would nip my leg. Any other time she has never attempted to bite or nip me or anyone else. She will try to nibble you in a playful way though. She adored having my 16 month old grandson to stay and was receptive to commands from my son. If Bramble was adopted by an experienced dog owner who was prepared to give her time to settle then they would be rewarded with a very loving dog because she really is very affectionate.

 16-07-09 UPDATE
With each passing week as Bramble has become more accustomed to my routine she has relaxed a little more and has completely changed from a shell-shocked manic dog to a happy, chirpy, cheeky and sometimes naughty little minx! She is definitely much more relaxed with her environment and the other dogs. However, we did have a set back the other week; she was happily trailing behind me on her lead when a woman past us and said "Good Morning"; Bramble flew into a state of sheer panic and bit me on the heel. I bent down and held her by the neck until the panic had passed and we continued on our way. On this basis I now only let her off lead when there are no other dogs or people in sight or they are dogs and people she knows. (Her recall continues to remain good.) I also now put a harness on her when we go for a walk so that I have better control of her and I ensure that she walks by my side! I started calling her Bramble-Tarcara as I have had so many comments about her being such a beautiful dog it seemed only fitting that she should have an appropriate name. The first time I called her this she wagged her tail in delight as if to confirm that Tacara really was a fitting name for her. Tacara meaning 'beautiful one'.

08-09-09 UPDATE
Whilst Bramble has settled well into family life I'm still hoping that someone is looking for another Beagle to compliment their family as Bramble would really benefit from a batty Beagle playmate. Since Jack the Lad left she hasn't had another who wants to play with her and to hear her pitiful cry when she's rejected by the other dogs is heart-rendering. Little Tacara so wants to be part of a pack and when she tries to snuggle up to my Scottie cross Timmy he just shuns her and Teagan my Yorkie just about tolerates her.
To recap, Tacara is fully house-trained and sleeps happily through the night but she does have the company of two other dogs in the kitchen. She walks well on the lead and has good recall. She's good with most dogs but other dogs don't always like her! She's interested in the cat but not obsessed. She's met by 18 month old grandson when he came to visit for a few days and she doesn't seem bothered by his howling and screeching! She's left with my other dogs three times a week for approximately 3 hours and she's fine. She also travels well.
Finally, I went away for a few days in August and she was looked after by three adults who had a Jack Russell. Whilst Bramble wasn't keen on her a quick squirt with the water pistol kept her in check! I have grown to really love her and could happily adopt her but I want the best for Bramble and I feel that would be with other beagles where she was part of the pack. I do hope she finds her new family soon as the longer I have her the harder it will be for me to part with her but more importantly Bramble needs a family she can call her own.

15-10-09 UPDATE

Bramble continues to make good progress and is interacting much better with my other two dogs.  I've now realized what has been Bramble's main problem; she is very hard of hearing.  Because of her keen sense of smell and her ability to react when the other dogs do I never realized that it was her hearing or lack of it that was creating the problems with her.  Now this has been established I ensure that when I give basic commands that this is followed up with a hand signal.  Obviously, this is probably the cause for her panic mode when we've been out on walks as she's has been suddenly startled by people/things just appearing.  Its taken a few months but she is now a happy and relaxed dog who loves her walks, her chews and most of all her cuddles!  Please do consider her but please remember to reap the rewards that I have you are going to have to be very patient and understanding until she feels safe and loved in her new environment.

19-11-09 UPDATE
I recently moved home and Bramble came with us. She was very well behaved on the journey despite it taking over five hours. She has settled well into her new foster home but then she came with her foster family, Teagan (yorkie), Timmy (scottie/j.r. x) and a recent addition to our family T.J. (scottie/j.r. x). Bramble interacts well with Timmy and T.J. but is only tolerated by Teagan so a home with a medium sized male dog would be ideal for her. She has come on leaps and bounds since I first began to foster her and is now a happy, friendly and as always ever affectionate dog. However, because of her breed she will always be a little minx and just like marmite you will either hate her or love her and I without question love her!

MIKEY

10-11-09 Mikey needs your help! He is a year old and had tragically spent over half his life waiting for a home. Mikey has been allowed to play with all sorts of dogs and has been great. He's very affectionate, sadly isn't a purebred pointer but a cross with something less glamorous. In his bored moments he's learnt to chase cats and is very keen on this sport so needs a no cat home. He's a loving big fella who needs a home of his own.

18-11-09 UPDATE

Above are some photographs of Mikey during his play session this morning. Mikey loves to run around and is very agile and active. He adored chasing after a toy this morning and would toss it up in the air and catch it and also enjoyed tugging on it with a human! He may possibly have some scent hound in him as he absolutely loves to sniff around and would probably enjoy scent work. He was introduced to some clicker training this morning and was very keen to work for tasty food rewards. So far, he has been learning to sit and give a paw but he would love for someone to continue training him to do lots of other things too! He can be strong on the lead in his enthusiasm to go for a walk but just needs to be taught to walk nicely. He is a fun loving and affectionate boy.

NASH

 BEING FOSTERED IN CORSHAM, WILTSHIRE

10-11-09 Nash is a 5 year old Yorkie, a big guy for the breed. He was dropped off by his owners as they no longer required him. He was a pet dog who has found it a little difficult to accept the tragic situation of finding himself in kennels but is now slowly growing in confidence and asking for fuss and cuddles. Nash is good with other dogs and would love to have canine company at home but could cope as an only dog if his family didn't leave him very long or very often.

18-11-09 UPDATE

Nash has settled in very well, his only problem is he doesn't like cats and will jump the stair gate and squeeze through the banisters to get to them (I have 6 ) so a cat free home is a must, apart from that he is a lovely little boy. Nash is good with others dogs of all sizes, walk well on a lead, is 100% clean in the house and only barks when he sees a cat. He has had a make over and he loved it. In the few days he's been here he has become a lap dog. Nash is a very happy little chap and would be a great addition to any home.

SCOTT

BEING FOSTERED IN CORSHAM, WITLTSHIRE

26-10-09 Scott is a 5 year  an ex stud westie.   it's the only life he's ever known so will need another dog to live with to help him to understand about houses. He is extremely cute. This lovely boy is now ready for the life of luxury!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. 09-11-09 UPDATE

Hi everyone Scott here I'm slowly settling in to home life. I have done a little scent marking but that is stopping
but my toilet training is going very well. I travel well in the car and sleep all night. I get on great with the other dogs and cats. I'm very timed so would need a home with no young children as they would scare me. I also need to be homed with another dog to help build my  confidence. I love cuddles and will come up to people but I do it very slowly, so will need you to be patience with me. My foster mum says I'm a very handsome chap and will make a lovely addition to any home. My favourite spot is in front of the fire, so if you have room in front of your fire for me please fill out the form below.
Love and licks Scott x x

18-11-09 UPDATE

We have discovered that Scott is blind in one eye but this does not affect him in any way. Scott needs a quite home with another calm dog. He has started to walk on a lead but can only manage small walks. I think Scott has spent most of his life in a small space as when he first arrived he walked round in small circles, I'm glad to stay this has now stopped. Scott has had a hair cut and was very good when having it done. He is a very quite dog and we have still not heard him bark. He is a very easy going boy and is as cute as can be.

GAIL

BEING FOSTERED IN CORSHAM, WILTSHIRE

19-10-09 Gail is a very sweet westie. At some point she has had a large trauma to her side, which is all but healed now. She is 5 years old and has always been a breeding dog, so has not experienced any sort of home life.

09-11-09 UPDATE

Hi everyone
I have settled into home life very well. My toilet training is going very well. I love my food and I'm learning to walk on a lead, I love going into the field and running around with the other dogs. I get on great with the cats. I love people and playing with toys. I travel well in the car and sleep all night. That's all my good points, now for the not so good. I get on and love to play with the other dogs but I'm very bossy and will snap and nip the other dogs when they get in my way or if I don't want to share my bed or toy.  I don't do it all the time, but I don't care what size dog I do it to, I'm trying very hard not to be like it. I get on well with my foster mum's, daughter's year old male westie as he likes to play rough and when I get a little unfriendly he runs off. So I either need to be an only dog or with another dog than can cope with my not so good manners. Apart from that I'm very cute and ove cuddles and am very well behaved with people.
Love and licks Gail x x

18-11-09 UPDATE

Gail is doing very well at behaving with the other dogs, she still has the odd moment at nipping them but nothing like when she first arrived. She is walking on a lead and loves going out. She loves cuddles and playing with my daughters westie. Gail would sit all day and let you brush her. Her toilet training is going well and she is 95% clean now.  She is a real sweetheart.

CADBURY

BEING FOSTERED IN CORSHAM, WILTSHIRE

15-11-09 Cadbury is a 2 year old ex breeding Chow who has been returned due to her owner needing an operation and not being able to cope with Cadbury who was becoming stressed at being left and not eating.  She was lucky enough to go straight into a foster home where she has has settled in well. Cadbury is living with several other dogs from westies to boxers in size and is great with them all.  She will need a home where there is at least one other dog. She is also currently living with cats and is absolutley fine.
Cadbury has eaten all her dinner happily in the company of her fosterers dogs without any problems. She walks well on a  lead but is nervous with people she doesn't know.

18-11-09 UPDATE

Cadbury has settled in with my pack and other foster dogs very well, she wags her tail when we come down in the morning and gives my hand a lick. She loves going out for walks, we do have catch her to put on the lead, but when its on she goes straight to the front door, she walks lovely on the lead and meets other dog very well, today a man stopped to talk and put his hand out to her, Cadbury was very good and didn't pull away and let him stroke her, she is a nervous dog but in time will learn to trust and will be a right cuddle monster. Cadbury needs an owner who has either had a chow before or has some grooming skills, as she will need to be brushed at least once a week, at the moment she is very matted and very scared of being brushed, my daughter who is a dog groomer has been coming round and has started getting small patches of matt's out, but as Cadbury get's very stressed she only spends about 10 minutes each day on her. So please bare this in mind before you apply for her.

WILLOW

17-11-09 Willow is a 4yr old ex breeding female golden retriever. She is very sweet and was happy to be gently fussed but will need a loving home and a confident resident dog or dogs to help her come out of her shell.  Please only apply if you are already a dog owner.

17-11-09 UPDATE

Sweet, gorgeous little Vanish is just adorable.  She has the most beautiful big grown eyes that will melt your heart. Her coat is very soft and silky and is remarkably white and in good condition.  She is quite small and although she is nervous and still frightened of many things, she is happy to sit on the sofa with me and be stroked and cuddled.
She is now walking on a lead - after only two days - although slowly and is eating out of my hand. She loves to lick my fingers and nibble them. She is fine with my dogs  and with people, though naturally she is a little scared and very nervous in the beginning, but she is loving experiencing all her new surroundings and her tail wags non stop.
Not a sound from her throughout the night - she sleeps in the kitchen with my other westies and she did her mess on the newspaper.  She really is like a little puppy that has just started to experience life for the first time.  Whoever adopts Vanish will have the pleasure of seeing her blossom into a confident, loving and very beautiful dog.

JUNIOR

BEING FOSTERED IN AMMANFORD, CARMARTHENSHIRE

03-11-09 Junior is a very sweet but very energetic terrier mix. He loves the company of other dogs. He needs far more exercise than he has been given and has had no training. He is a great little chap that if his owner had bothered to train would have not found himself homeless.  It's heart breaking that dogs love us humans despite how they are let down.

17-11-09 UPDATE

Junior has settled into home life really well.  He is 99% toilet trained and will happily use the dog flap to go in and out of the house.  He will now respond to "sit" and will also sit and wait for his food and to have his lead put on.  This might not seem very special, but when Junior came here he was like a bull in a china shop!!  He had no idea how to behave due to lack of socialization with the family or other dogs.  He gets on great with the other male foster dog here (Artha) they are fantastic buddies and love to play.
Junior is definitely work in progress as he is very excitable, but If he continues to learn as quickly as he has in just one week, then he will be fantastic!  He is a very clever dog and really does try to please, but needs to learn boundaries, as he is still very young and full of puppyish excitement.
He is great in the car and after a little bit of excitement when starting off, will fall asleep once travelling.  He sleeps well through the night and has to be woken up most mornings!! He has shown no signs of aggression, towards us but if he gets excited he will jump up and sometimes nip at you, but this is not aggression, purely excitement and we are working on this, and it is improving. He is happy to be fed with the other dog, and is not food aggressive.
Junior's lead training is getting a little better, he will bark and scream when we set off, but soon settles down.  He has been pulling quite a bit but again, I am working to improve this and he is trying his best.  As you can see by the photos, he cant get close enough to the Rayburn fire, he really loves the home life! He enjoys playing with toys, and will chase a ball, but has not quite worked out the return of it yet.  I cannot stress enough how much he has changed in a week and how clever he is, good looking too!
Junior is so happy to have a cuddle with you, and will sleep soundly most of the evening, I think he would fit in with any family as long as there are not very young children as he could possibly knock them over with his excitement.  But, he really loves everyone, and would love an active home so he can burn off his energy, so if you enjoy long walks or some jogging....Junior is the one for you.

ARTHA

BEING FOSTERED IN AMMANFORD, CARMARTHENSHIRE

13-10-09 Artha is a 1 year old patterdale cross terrier who has been saved from starving on the streets. Artha is a friendly and bright lad who loves people but is a typical terrier. He's better suited to live with female dogs than males but is very good with the girls that he's living with here. This little guy is a bundle of fun and would love to play and run with you all day.

05-11-09 UPDATE

Artha is an exceptionally cute little fellow with a lovely expression and personality. He is friendly, affectionate and playful. He loves to play fetch and mostly comes running back to you to deliver the ball, however sometimes forgets the game and instead just runs back without it for a cuddle! This morning, he walked very well on the lead at my side, though will pull towards distractions such as an interesting scent! He seems to be a very sweet natured little dog.
 Jemma

17-11-09 UPDATE
Artha has been with me a week now and there isn't a photo that could show just how cute and petite he really is.  He is sooooo sweet, we have fallen in love with this little guy.  He travels really well in the car and is now 99% toilet trained, he has no problem using the dog flap to go in and out of the house.  He is big pals with the other male dog here and they love to cuddle up together when they sleep.  Artha is so easy on the lead, he will just trot along beside you and enjoy his walks.  He loves to play with a ball, but much prefers to snuggle up with you...he is such a lap dog!!
Artha has no food aggression whatsoever, but he is obsessed with food, just the rattle of paper and he will pester you thinking there is a snack for him.  Sadly, Artha has spent a lot of his young life starving, he is on 3/4 small meals a day as a large meal upsets his stomach.  I will reduce the amount of meals when he has put on a little weight and can cope with a larger meal, and by then he should be less obsessed with food.  He could easily fit in with any family, though very young children might overwhelm him as he is so timid, so children of about 8/9+ would probably be better. I do not think he would get on with a cat, but as there are none here, I cant be certain. I really cant explain how sweet he is, you really do need to meet him...he's such a sweetie!

LILLY

15-11-09 Lilly is a 2 years old bedlington terrier cross. She is very good with children and other dogs and now just need a good forever home.  She loves going for walks and will sit at the kerbside when told.  She is full of life and fun and will retrieve her ball.  She is semi house trained but her fosterer is working on that and it shouldn't take long for that to be sorted.  In the meantime if you are looking for a fun and active friend - consider Lilly !

17-11-09 UPDATE

Lilly's only problem was her previous owners couldn't housetrain her (although she only weed indoors) and was a little too exuberant with their other dog.  She came to me on Saturday zooming through the house and jumping all over the furniture but after a couple of DOWNs and NOs she hasn't done it since unless she gets excited but a firm down is all she needs.
She's only a small dog(13 inches to her shoulder) and has quite a wiry coat with a lovely white bib and is a very pretty dog.  Lilly weed three times the first day twice the second day and nothing today so is very close to being fully housetrained.  She is brilliant with my 4 dogs and my 2 other fosters and the same with kids.  She loves her walks and all in all is a very happy little girl despite her past before she was rescued by her last owners.
Lilly would be the perfect dog for a family with children over 5, only because she does get a bit bouncy but if the child was dog savvy (as in puppy behaviour) they would be OK. She hasn't a bad bone in her body, she loves her squeakies and will play all day but also likes her snoozes.  Lilly has calmed down a lot in only 3 days after changing her diet to Burns. She sleeps in her bed outside my bedroom with the others and I don't hear a sound until I get up in the morning. She is a lovely family dog.

MELVIN

BEING FOSTERED IN SWINDON, WILTSHIRE

02-11-09 Melvin is a 5 year old westie male. He has been a stud dog all his life so has never lived in a home. He is gentle and very patient and sweet and good with other dogs. He will need an existing dog to help him learn about a domestic life. He will be well worth the effort so if you have another dog or dogs living in the home and can offer Melvin a wonderful forever home please apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up.

17-11-09 UPDATE

We have had Melvin for just over a week now. When we first collected him he was very nervous, but when we got home he met the other 3 dogs very nicely and was more at ease they all get on very well together. It took 2 days for him to let us get close enough to stroke and fuss him and for him to take treats from our hands, now he comes up to us for a fuss and snuggles up on t h e sofa with us. Melvin loves his food and gives me a little woof if I don't get it ready quickly enough, his housetraining is coming along well, he sleeps all night in his crate and is clean all night. Melvin needs more socializing as he gets nervous of strangers approaching him both indoors and out but that will improve in time. I think Melvin would suit an adult home or one with older children 12yrs plus and with another dog for company, once he gets to know you he is very loving and will make a very good companion. Melvin is a lovely little dog who deserves his forever home soon.

05-11-09  Rhonda is a 4 year old ex breeding westie.  She is very good and happy when other dogs are around but is not so sure of people. 15-11-09 UPDATE
Hi there, I arrived in Taunton today. The journey was trouble free and I spent the whole time sat quietly in my crate until we arrived at my foster home. I was greeted by a lovely Cav who welcomed me and has left me alone. I’m not sure about the people here but then I’ve not lived with people so I have not quite settled down and relaxed. I will let you know how I got on. I had a lovely bath when I arrived as I smelt a bit and even enjoyed being dried with my foster parents hair drier. I would love a forever home with a doggy friend to share.

EMA

BEING FOSTERED IN WREXHAM

12-11-09 Ema is a sweet ex breeding bichon. She is looking for a loving home to call her own with a confident resident dog to show her the way so please only apply if you already have a resident dog or dogs living in the home who are kind and gentle.

17-11-09 UPDATE

Well this is pretty little Ema. A friend was kind enough to transport Ema to me on Sunday afternoon. She arrived at 3.30 a little scared girl who weed on me through her fear. Within the hour Ema had a waggy tail and a little smile for everyone. She is so very happy to be here and enjoying all the attention she positively revels in it. She has made friends with all my dogs but does love her person to be near her.
Ema is a stunning Bichon with a little ear that turns itself over which looks so very cute. Emma has captured the hearts of everyone here especially mine.  Ema is not only a beautiful looking girl she is also intelligent and very willing to please everyone. She is learning that the garden is a better place to toilet in than the mat in the living room also her food dish is just for her until she has eaten it all so relaxing more with her eating routine. She has been out on her lead this morning for about 20 mins and although fearful she was extremely curious about everything. She does get alarmed when people approach so I lifted her gently until they had passed. It is only 30 hrs since Ema arrived and I felt I should share her with everyone as I would very much like to see her in her new forever home soon before we become too attached (again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but more importantly her to us.
It can be difficult for the dogs at this early stage of homing if they have a lengthy stay at the fosterers as they have to readjust when re homed again. She is perfect really she is so come on all you Bichon lovers and fill in the form, who knows it could be you who wins this little star prize.

16-11-09 Noddy is a five year old male springer. He has been returned by his owner because although when he gets to know men he is fine on two instances he has bitten a stranger.  Once when a neighbour went unannounced into the garden and once where someone went stroke him. He will obviously need a home where this can be worked on. We have been told that he loves to have a ball thrown for him, loves his exercise, gets on well with female dogs but can have issues with certain male dog.

JET

13-10-09 Jet has come back to us because he is said to be uncontrollable on the lead. Although he is exuberant, with the right correction and firm but fair handling, he is controllable. He is a very handsome chappy and very affectionate. He would be best homed as an only dog and without cats as he will chase! Jet is extremely agile and would benefit from doing a canine sport like agility. I found he didn’t respond to his name this morning and so had a clicker training session with him, during which he started to understand that ‘Jet’ means ‘look at me’! He was a little too distracted this morning to get involved playing tugging or ball games but once he is a bit more settled, hopefully his playful side will come out!

16-11-09 UPDATE

Jet is a super friendly guy who is desperate to find a forever home. He is a natural retriever and can be seen here thoroughly enjoying a game of fetch with me this morning. He is super keen and smart too. We started some clicker training today and Jet was giving his paw and spinning within minutes! He is handsome and affectionate and would make a fine companion for an experienced owner.

SOONER

kBEING FOSTERED IN WARMINSTER, WILTSHIRE

 22-09-09
Sooner is a 2 year old dog friendly lurcher. He is a funny, happy fellow who is a little under greyhound height. He would love you to come and meet him - PLEASE!!!!!

16-10-09 UPDATE

What a fabulous dog Sooner is! Loving and affectionate, but also very spirited and lively. He's great fun to have around, an incredibly quick learner and very intelligent. What more could anyone want in a dog? He's incredibly handsome and special, eager to learn, and everyone he meets falls in love with him.   As you can see he's made himself thoroughly comfortable here, but would love a forever home where his new master or mistress would really enjoy training him.

02-11-09 UPDATE
Sooner's a real character, endearing, affectionate, very loveable and such fun to have around.  He's also very handsome - everyone he meets falls in love with him. Watching him run is a joy - he's as fast as a racehorse and takes such pleasure in it.  He loves to play with other dogs, and isn't aggressive with them. However, I think he's slightly too large to be homed with anything smaller than a Jack Russell, or with very young children.
Sooner seldom barks, is not destructive when left, and sleeps in his basket all night without disturbing anyone. He's now 100% housetrained, and sits to command - as long as there's a treat in it for him. His recall still needs working on; at the moment it's hit and miss.
Lurcher-savvy owners, a comfortable bed, and another playful dog, or even a whole pack of them, would suit Sooner perfectly. If you meet him you're sure to fall for him. He's irresistible!!

09-11-09 UPDATE (FROM SOONER'S NEW FOSTER HOME)
Sooner came to live with me on Saturday (7/11) and what a star he is!! He is so gentle and kind with my children (aged 6 and 8) and loves it when they fuss him and tickle his tummy. Sooner is a typical young lurcher in that he loves nothing more than some exercise and a filled kong but once he has worn his energy off will sleep for hours. He is clean in the house, playful but not pushy with other dogs and a real charmer all round.
Sooner is not too strong on the lead and (unless there is a particularly interesting blade of grass) you barely know he is there. If you are looking for a gorgeous, affectionate, young dog who is so soft and soppy yet so intelligent and full of fun, then look no further Sooner is the one for you!

16-11-09 UPDATE

Hi, Sooner here.
Well it's been an exciting few weeks and I've been passed from pillar to post but I always say hello to everyone with a smile and a waggy tail. My foster Mum says that she thinks someone must have really loved me once and that she doesn't understand how I ended up homeless when I'm just a big baby.
It's all very exciting here and I like to know what everyone is doing and to try and help them if I can.  During the day I love knawing on a bone and going for nice long walks.  I always try my hardest to do as I'm told and make the humans here happy. My favourite time of day is last thing at night when I snuggle up under a blanket on the settee with my foster Mum and stare at her adoringly with my big, brown eyes.
Sometimes at bed time I have a little cry because I'm left in the kitchen and I would really like to sleep on the bed, but I'm getting much better and only need to be told once now before I'm quiet and sleep all through the night. On Friday I went on a Many Tears collection but all those people in the shopping centre made me get a bit excited and I tried to talk to them all so we had to leave a bit early.
On Saturday I went back to the rescue to say hello to everyone and have a run around the sand school. It was so much fun because I haven't been off the lead for ages and I ran around as fast as I could. I would so love a forever home with a family who love and understand me and don't leave me on my own much because that makes me really sad and I think that I've been abandoned all over again. I'm a very clever boy and learn very quickly so I need things to tire me out both mentally and physically so that I can snuggle down in my bed and have a good snooze.
All I want to do is have a family of my very own who will love me as much as I love them. Please fill in the application form if you can find room in your heart and home for me because I would love to be your forever dog.
Lots of love, kisses n wags xxx

TRANCE

10-11-09 Trance is a 3 year old German Shepherd.  He's a sorry soul who has been rescued from wandering the street desperately seeking food and shelter. He was so scared when we first saw him but he's gone to a foster home with Steve who everybody loves and who felt very sorry for Trance.  He is now wagging his tail and is already so much happier. Trance has been good with Steve's dogs so far but it's his first night and we will know more over the next few days.

16-11-09 UPDATE

Trance is living with Steve who works at MT, his 4 springer spaniels and Oops-a-Daisy our JRT pup and getting on very well - better everyday. He was a little pushy with the boys to start with but has now completely stopped. He was also a little flirty with Steve's girls!  Although he responds very well to correction and will stop whatever it is he might be doing when he's told off, he has needed telling a few times to leave the girls alone!
Steve's got him walking really well on the lead and has started his training.  Trance is generally very well behaved and is a clever boy who is learning more and more with Steve. He has shown a little bit of possession over food and toys but is getting much better about this.  This poor boy has probably had to fight for everything in his previous life and is still a bit skinny so it's understandable that he's a bit like that. Above all he's very affectionate and loves to cuddle and play with people.
Trance would love to go to home with or without other dogs as long as his family are around for most of the time to play with him and keep him company.

MAX

BEING FOSTERED IN FLEET, HAMPSHIRE

26-10-09 Max is a 5 yr old  cross breed boy who came in with his brother (who has now been rehomed). He is about the size of a tall cocker and is a little bag of fun! A lady adopted them from somebody who was emigrating, now she is unable to keep them. She called the largest animal welfare group who stated that due to a skin complaint (a touch of mange that was already being treated by this ladies vet) that they would be putting them to sleep. She was devastated by this news and called us.  We are treating Max's skin and he is here waiting patiently for his forever home to come along. He has lived with kids, cats and rabbits, and although are good with the cats indoors did chase them a little outside, but it was described as a two way game with the cat and he was scarred of the two kittens! He is housetrained and ready to go.

05-11-09 UPDATE

Although I've only had Max for a couple of days, I can honestly say that he's an absolutely gorgeous little chap. He is such a well balanced, friendly, confident and calm lad. He has joined my clan so easily and is an absolute delight. The only issue that needs to be worked on is that he pulls like a train on the lead. He is however desperate to be off running and playing with my lot but it's too soon for him to be let off just yet. He loves playing chase in the garden.  He's very quick and very very agile! He is excellent in the car, friendly to everyone (canine, feline or human), eats well, sleeps all night, is completely non destructive when left. He's also a complete cuddle monster and will snuggle up at every opportunity. He's a little star and I can't recommend him highly enough. In the photo he's the one on the sofa - I keep having to look twice as he's so similar to one of mine. In my opinion he's certainly confident enough to be an only dog but as he's always lived with another I think he would prefer to live with a friend or two. Please fill in the form and apply for this little cracker and he will be your best friend for life.

15-11-09 UPDATE

Max continues to do very well, I hardly know he's here as he is such a good boy and just fits in with my three.  His hair is slowly but surely growing back to cover the small areas where he was bald (mainly his back legs).  He loves coming out on his walks and does get quite excited at the prospect but is totally exhausted when he gets home.  I will be letting him off lead next week so am working on his recall - I will be armed with sausage and cheese!  As you can see in the group photo he is absolutely fine with dogs of all shapes & sizes.  We had a doggy party while there was a local fireworks display, he was not bothered at all.  This little boy is fabulous, just sadly (like so many others) waiting for his forever home.

FIG

BEING FOSTERED IN BEDFONT, MIDDLESEX

13-10-09 Fig is a 2 year old tiny terrier. Fig is a very frightened little girl and has been learned only the wrong things about people. She will go to one our fosterers to learn how to be loved.

26-10-09 UPDATE
Fig is a confident girl now she has settled in to the home routine. She is fully house trained and is very quiet when alone. She likes her comfy spot on the sofa but is also happy in a bed on the floor!  Fig has been very good with the other dogs but could be possessive if allowed too be. Previous terrier experience and a dog larger than herself in her new home would be advantageous.
Fig was thought to be pregnant on arrival but over the past week there has been no changes and she had an ultra sound scan today which confirms she is not physically pregnant but has a phantom pregnancy. This can occur following a season. No treatment is required for this and she will be spayed in the next few weeks.
Fig will make a wonderful fun companion. She loves going to the park and has perfect recall. Please consider giving this little lady a loving space in your home.

14-11-09 UPDATE

Fig is a little star. She has grown in personality over these past weeks and is very affectionate. She enjoys tummy rubs and cuddles as well as interactive play with my Belgian Shepherd. Her ideal home would be to have an playful larger dog. She loves walking and is very good on and off the lead, meeting dogs at the park and returning straight away when called. She can be possessive with treats and toys with smaller dogs than herself but is fine with people to touch or remove these. Her coat has improved and has a great shine which is a stunning colour with two beautiful white socks which she points out fully when running. She is great fun to take to the park as she "talks" to you out of sheer happiness when she is running. Again she loves to run after her larger friend and attempt to catch the ball. Fig is a lovely dog who will be a loyal friend in the right hands as being a terrier she could be strong willed but I have found her to be a quick learner and keen to please.

CARYS

13-11-09 Carys is a 4 year old Westie,  She is an ex breeding  girl  but wasn't brilliant Mum. Carys didn't want anything to do with her puppies and so she's looking to go home as a pet dog. Carys is very good with other dogs and loves people. A lot of our ex breeding dogs are very nervous but Carys is braver and friendlier than most but we still want her to go to a home where there is already a dog to help her so please only apply for her if you already have a resident dog or dogs.

MYTH

10-09-09 Myth is a 5 year old Akita. She is an ex breeding bitch, but has lived in a home also some years ago. She is house trained and is good with people and dogs. She is a very affectionate lovely lady.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company.  They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. 08-10-09 UPDATE

Myth is a sweet, playful girl. She has been in with various dogs and has been very good with all of them, although much prefers male dogs. She really needs a quiet male dog to live with and show her all about the world. She just adores attention, and would love to be cuddled and played with all day.

09-10-09 UPDATE
Myth enjoyed her first clicker training session this morning. She is a smart girl and very keen to work for food treats. She very quickly grasped the idea of the clicker and was flopping into a down position for a click and treat! Myth is very manageable on the lead and loved sniffing around in the fresh grass this morning on her walk. Unfortunately she was far too interested in sniffing around to be engaged in play, but no doubt she could be encouraged to play games in a less distracting environment.

12-11-09 UPDATE
What a star! Myth had another clicker training session this morning and was fabulous. She loves using her brain to earn affection and tasty treats! She is very quick to sit and lie down and today was learning to spin and lift a paw. She loves a good scratch all over and has such a lush thick coat. She walks well on the lead and will trot along perfectly to heel if there are food treats going! She met horses this morning and was very good. She is a really smashing girl and so deserving of a super home.

SANTO

BEING FOSTERED IN COWBRIDGE, VALE OF GLAMORGAN

22-09-09 Santo is a 1½  year old thin loving male collie type. He was at the pound and was to be destroyed but an angel saved him and we took him on. He is dog friendly and although has little training he is a star who wants to love and be loved.

12-10-09 UPDATE

Santo has been with us for a week.  He is extremely loving and friendly to all he meets.  This includes other dogs, cats and kittens, children and adults.  He is thriving on the attention and affection that we give him and he returns this double fold.  He wants to please and is responding to training, this includes toilet training (dry every night and has been dry during the day for the past three days) and the command of sit, wait and off.

Santo is gradually getting use to living in a house and is more relaxed with household sounds and noises, such as the television and washing machine; nevertheless, the vacuum cleaner so far remains the big ogre.  Santo is now much more use to a collar and lead, and he is beginning to enjoy his walks.  However, he is very uncertain and nervous of any type of traffic; yet I do get a strong impression that in the past he has tried to either round up or chase bicycles and motorbikes.  I firmly believe that Santo has had no previous training, and that this lovely, lovely boy will blossom and show how able and intelligent he his with the benefit of both formal and agility training.

25-10-09 UPDATE
Santo is much more relaxed in every way and is improving with regard  to traffic.  He is walking better on the lead and pulls only occasionally.  Santo has been on car journeys and presented with no problems at all.  He knows his name and comes when called, he knows the 'down' command now as well and is getting good with the 'stay' command.  Santo is truly a lovely boy and remains affectionate to all.  He loves to curl up of an evening on the settee with his head resting on someone's lap, he loves to have cuddles.

12-11-09 UPDATE

Santo has added 'leave it' and 'wait' to his understanding of commands and will now respond to double commands such as 'sit and wait'. Considering he has had no previous training he has shown us his 'Collie intelligence' in double quick time.
Santo is continuing to steadily relax and is happy to be left for short periods, he will even stay in the same room as his demon--the vacuum cleaner! However, Santo is not to be trusted off lead as it has become apparent he will chase cars, although he is frightened of them. Walking down the High Street is not a problem and he often ignores the traffic, but rural roads where cars come straight at him, ie, narrow or no pavement, would set him off given the chance.  On the positive side, Santo is very slowly responding to 'leave it' with a tug on the lead when he starts to pay attention to on coming traffic.
In the home Santo is extremely well behaved, always ready to obey an instruction, knows when it's time to be quiet, will wait patiently for his food and wont touch his full dish until he is told to do so; I am surprised, because as mentioned before, this dog was 'raw'. I believe he had no experience of structure, training or comfort in his life before. Highly possible he'd never entered a home previously and certainly didn't know what a soft, clean basket was used for. Santo is always very happy and friendly with dogs he meets, but his main priority is humans and he adores to spend time with his human family; hence it is not necessary for him to be homed with another canine friend.

ORPHAN PUPS

These pups will be ready for their homes around 14th November and we are taking applications for them now.

13 pups were thrown away under a bush. A vet took them till they could find a rescue to help, We received 9 as the others died from hypothermia. A mercy dash to Leah in Tunbridge wells will put them in expert hands and give them the best chance, but as they may have received no colostrums they may have little chance. Please pray for them and their poor mum, who could be anywhere!

To read the pups story click here.

These guys are the dream breed.....whatever you would like them to be they can be!  We really aren't sure what they are, but guess that they will be small to medium in size. These are extremely forward going pups, that have had 110% of people time all their lives so will need a home where there is somebody around a lot of the time. They are used to cats, dogs, kids, vacuums' and bathes.

GOSH

Gosh is so sweet, he'll always be first to greet you, and unlike the otherswill say hello even if there is food around. He still loves to explore and have a good game of tuggy on him toys. He has grown the most leg, and reallywants to be a whippet.......we'll see.

17-11-09 UPDATE

Gosh is so stunning, I believe he will grow to between a springer and collie size. He has the most beautiful wrinkles on his face and big beautiful eyes, that melt your heart! He is still looking for a home and is in his most important time of life, he is extremely well socialised. Loves everybody he meets and adores other dogs. He will make the most amazing family pet. Don't leave this stunning young man hanging!

GAMBLE

Gamble-Her nose is improving all the time. I’m not sure if it will ever be perfect, but who wants a perfect dog, she is unique! It certainly doesn’t bother her. She adores having a cuddle when she can sit still long enough.  Gamble is my beautiful little girl. She is the second smallest and if the others didn't look so different you would say 100% working cocker spaniel. I don't believe she will get bigger than that. She is very forward going, loves to play and cuddle. Is her nose putting people off? It hardly shows now, and the only affect it has is that she snores very slightly. She is stunning, don't miss out!

17-11-09 UPDATE

Why is Gamble still here? She is the smallest left and I believe will make the size of a cocker spaniel, she has all the looks as well. She is really fun, loves a good game and then a big snuggle. She never wants to miss out on what's happening. Again she has had masses of socialisation and will make the perfect family dog. She is so sweet how can you resist?

GANDER

Gander was a nightmare to try and get a picture of. No sooner did you let her go she was off again! She is beautifully showing off the collar she would like when she is older. She is into everything and would love an active life.  Gander Is very forward going.  She loves to investigate is the biggest of the litter.  She will be smooth coated with a beautiful red tint.  She is adorable.

17-11-09 UPDATE

Beautiful Gander. She is much more like Gosh, with huge pretty eyes and gorgeous wrinkles. She is the largest of the group now and I think she will make collie size. She is hugely funny bouncing all around the place, and play bowing at my big dogs. She is full of character, well socialised and ready to be the perfect family pet!

12-11-09 UPDATE

Well this is what a puppy pile looks like......
This is a hard week for me, people are applying for my babies! Although it is nice it is also really hard. Some of them have not got a look in and I guess you can't help but take it personally "why doesn't everybody want this beautiful pup!!!????".

CYAN

BEING FOSTERED IN GRAVESEND, KENT

07-10-09 Poor Cyan is a 5 year old Jack Russell male who has come from a farm. Cyan is a very nervous lad who has been a bit shaken up by his ordeal today and will need a lot of TLC to reassure him that people can be trusted and, eventually, loved. Cyan is good with other dogs but has probably more experience of females than males, although he seems pretty good with both at the moment. Cyan has never lived as a pet dog and will need another dog to show him the way and help him learn about house training etc.  Please only apply for Cyan if you already have a dog.

15-10-09 UPDATE
I took Cyan for a walk on a lead and set about continuing his lead training as he has probably never seen a lead before coming to Many Tears. Initially, any tension in the lead really worried him and he would spin around and bite at it, in an attempt to break free. When he began to understand that the lead was not there to hurt him, he started to relax more and was able to turn his attention to taking in all the interesting scents; nevertheless, he was still quite unsure. Cyan needs to learn to trust people and this will require time and patience until he finds his confidence. He seems very relaxed around others of his own kind and enjoys spending time with a nice group of smallish dogs in our yard. He will need to go to a home where there is another calm confident dog to help him along. Cyan is really cute so if you are patient and kind, share your home with a dog already and want to give another little dog a change to be happy in a loving home, please apply.

26-10 -09 UPDATE

Cyan has had his first taste of inside life today and has been helping with all our office work. He started out by answering the phone, then he did a little eating of James' lunch (well quavers!) He then moved on to chatting on the head set and doing the computer work!
Cyan e is a truly loving, but scared boy. He really hasn't had anything nice ever and so desperately wants somebody to call his own. He is maybe a bit older than we first told, although it is so hard to tell when they have been given a bad diet. Sadly that may put some people off, but to me that just makes me sadder that he has had a longer life of nothing. He is a true gent and loves the company of other dogs, and they have really helped him to come out of his shell. He hasn't experienced younger kids, so we won't be homing him with tiny tots, but feel he would be happy with teenage quieter kids.  He's also sensible enough to be scared of cats so we would happy to home with dog savvy cats. If you are looking for a quiet, sweet dog to have a cuddle on your lap, sit and help you do your computer work then Cyan is your man.

02-10-09  UPDATE

I don't usually update this quickly, but in the 2 days Cyan has been with me he has shown himself to be such a star dog I wanted to let everyone know. He is a very easy, quiet dog, for whom most noises in a house are clearly new to him and he also is new to being treated kindly. He wants to please, is careful but not really scared and is learning hourly that he doesn't need to worry about the TV, pinger on the microwave and how to take a treat out of my hand. He is 75% house trained already, very respectful of my three little dogs and just wants to spend his time by my side - he really does just want to have his own person to snuggle up to and not move.
He sleeps through the night without a sound, is non destructive, eats any dog food on offer, has already been left for short periods without incident and is the easiest foster dog I have had. He has clearly had a very rough time in his life so far - it's joy to be able to give him a better life.  Anyone adopting him will get a devoted companion whose idea of heaven is lying by your side with his head on your lap.

12-11-09 UPDATE

Cyan has been here for 10 days and has settled in so well. He is fully housetrained, all he needs to do now is get a bit better at asking to go out. He continues to want to spend ALL his time being by my side, and waits patiently from behind a closed door for me to emerge again! He has learnt so quickly not to be scared of anything in the house, but continues to be wary of visitors. However, he isn't aggressive, just barks a bit from a distance. He is my devoted companion, not pushy for attention, not jealous of my dogs when they want a cuddle either. Although he is fine when left (no noise, or destruction, or even anxiety when I return) I just think he deserves someone who can be around most of the time as all he wants to do is be near 'his' human. All in all a super little dog.

LEWIS

BEING FOSTERED IN BEDFONT, MIDDLESEX

10-11-09 Lewis is an 18 month old terrier cross and this dog should be made a saint for his charitable acceptance of human beings after what they've done to him. It appears from old scars that he's been tied by his legs. The new scars that are all over his body the vet feels are either from a boiling liquid or acid burns yet this little fellow still wants to love everybody. He will be scarred for life.

SNOOZIE

BEING FOSTERED IN CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX

10-11-09 Snoozie is a 2 and half year old Labrador.  She is a really special girl who has lost her home through no fault of her own. She is very worried at the moment and will take time to make friends with everybody and learn to trust new people. Snoozie is very good with other dogs and would be an ideal companion for any dog.  Don't miss out on Snoozie she will make a wonderful pet.

DIXIE

BEING FOSTERED IN BEDFONT, MIDDLESEX

10-11-09 Dixie is a 5 year old Shih Tuz.  He's a lovely boy who sadly has lost both of his eyes. Dixie copes very very well with this and is surprisingly confident for a blind dog. There are several stories as to how he lost his eyes but to cut a long story short they all start like this...

Dixie was found on the streets and taken to a vet as he was in a bit of a state. After 4 baths to try and get the grime and grease out before they could get the fleas and lice off, they finally gave up and shaved him. Then sadly as he was walking himself around the yard of the vet's practice he was kicked by a horse and had had to have the left eye removed. It gets worse - as then a few weeks later in the same yard at the same practice was hit by a car and needed the other eye removed, leaving him eyeless and blind.

But despite all that he's a happy, brave and loving lad who still hasn't learnt to fear danger! He'll need a family who can take very good care of him and watch his every move, as he obviously can't be trusted to look after himself!

COAL

10-11-09 Coal is a 2 year old springer cross border collie - a springboard! Coal was no longer wanted as his owner nearly got dragged into a pond as he loves to swim! He is slightly overweight and needs some training and plenty of exercise. On meeting him he was ecstatic to have a run and some freedom.  He will be a wonderful dog with the right training.

CHEESE

BEING FOSTERED IN EAST MOLSEY, SURREY

10-11-09 Cheese and his brother Burger are ten month old GSD crosses.

MYA

10-11-09 Mya is a 4 year old GSD who has been given up by her owners. If this dog was a person she would be part of the aristocracy, she's so noble. Mya is good with other dogs, affectionate and also clever and seems well balanced.  She needs that wonderful home who will love her forever and she will return that love tenfold and be your faithful friend.

 BEING FOSTERED IN NEWBURY, BERKSHIRE

10-11-09 Snook and his brothers are collies. They had a lucky escape when their doggy angel saved them because their mum had a litter 6 months previous which had all been killed.  Even though their angel tried to get the owners to spay their mum she had another litter but these did manage to get rescued. TRIXIE

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON, HAMPSHIRE

10-11-09 Trixe is a 5yr old ex breeding beagle. This sweet girl is nervous and will need a kind loving home that will help her come out of her shell. She will need a home with another confident dog to help her with this so please only apply if you already have a resident dog or dogs living in the home.

MOJO

BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHAMPTON, HAMPSHIRE

17-10-09 Poor Mojo, he is only 9 mths old and is now looking for his third home. He was in the pound as he was being left all day, a lady then took him on, but had him for just under a week and realized just how much a collie needs. She felt she could not give him what he needed so he is now here with us. He is a super sweet boy. He has got good hearing (although not all white dogs do). He sat nicely for his photo although I feel it took him all of his self restraint to do so. He needs a job, please do not apply unless you have a super active life that this boy can be involved with 110%. He would be an ideal candidate for agility or fly ball or running! He is great with people, great with dogs and house trained. I don't know if he has seen cats, but we can test.

20-10-09 UPDATE

Mojo is really quite a good looking fellow, though you wouldn’t necessarily think it from his pictures! He is a smart guy and despite having moved around so much in his short life, he knows how to sit and lie down with a verbal cue and hand signal. He loved training with the clicker this morning and quickly learnt to target my hand with his nose for tasty food rewards! He is young and active, friendly and affectionate and really deserves to be in a home where he can have fun and be loved by people.

Jemma

09-11-09 UPDATE

PEPPIE

BEING FOSTERED IN READING, BERKSHIRE

15-10-09 Peppie Is a 3year old collie. He has always lived with Maddie, although they would be ok to be home separately. They having been living with a tiny baby and have been perfect, but since the baby has arrived they have made some mistakes with their house training (although had been perfect previously).  Both Maddie and Peppie are under weight but have been loved as, and have a very nice write up with them. They would benefit having something to do with their brains, these two are more than just sit around at home dogs, they would like to have a job, maybe obedience, agility, flyball or even jogging
.

09-11-09 UPDATE
We have been fostering Peppie 3 weeks now; everybody that stops to talk loves him! (Peppie thinks this is how it should be).  He was reserved but changes meant he never made it to his new home.  Over the last few weeks he had become a lot more confident, reacts well to all types of command words but has kept his cheeky attitude to life. He loves going out for walks except when it is raining, when he just looks at you with a “are you mad” look on his face. Quite happy to walk around local roads on a lead - day or night. Thinks the woods are the best as long as he can see you and always comes back when called.
Peppie likes footballs, which can be a bit tricky in the park and behaves well with other dogs he meets. Also very good at chasing and retrieving tennis balls.  He is always happy to see you; his tail is better than any air-conditioner on fan on the market. Gets on well with children and would get on with our cats if they stopped spitting at him for a moment.
Peppie needs a family that will treat him well, give him attention and exercise on a regular basis. He will return your efforts many times over and will make an excellent addition to the family.

kBEING FOSTERED IN WARMINSTER, WILTSHIRE

 22-09-09
Sooner is a 2 year old dog friendly lurcher. He is a funny, happy fellow who is a little under greyhound height. He would love you to come and meet him - PLEASE!!!!!

13-10-09 UPDATE
I picked Sooner up on Sunday. He has no issues about travelling in a car. He's an incredibly affectionate and very clever dog who takes an interest in everything, takes well to commands and learns really quickly. Lead training and house training are both coming on well. In fact he's been clean in the house for the last 24 hours.
So far he's slept through the night without trouble, too. He doesn't bark at all. I've left him for a couple hours in a room by himself when I went out, and he seemed perfectly content to be alone - as long as he has a comfortable bed to curl up in, a ball to play with and something to eat, not much else matters to this happy-natured, handsome dog.
All in all, he is adorable and very loveable indeed!

 16-10-09 UPDATE

What a fabulous dog Sooner is! Loving and affectionate, but also very spirited and lively. He's great fun to have around, an incredibly quick learner and, according to the dog trainer who gave him a lesson yesterday, very intelligent. In fact, he was learning to do tricks within the space of half an hour, and absolutely loved it!
What more could anyone want in a dog? He's incredibly handsome and special, eager to learn, and everyone he meets falls in love with him.   As you can see he's made himself thoroughly comfortable here, but would love a forever home where his new master or mistress would really enjoy training him. And hopefully there'd be another playful dog in the house, too.

02-11-09 UPDATE
Sooner's now been with me for three weeks, and I can't understand why no Lurcher-lover has snapped him up yet. He's a real character, endearing, affectionate, very loveable and such fun to have around.  He's also very handsome - everyone he meets falls in love with him. Watching him run is a joy - he's as fast as a racehorse and takes such pleasure in it.
He loves to play with other dogs, and isn't aggressive with them. Yesterday he went to an ex-Many Tears puppy's first birthday party, and had a wonderful time playing with five other, smaller dogs. It was chaos but he behaved impeccably!

URCHIN

BEING FOSTERED IN BREAN, SOMERSET

11-05-09 Urchin is a 6 year old terrier cross who we collected from the pound. This poor boy is really feeling lost at the moment.  He must have once been someone's loyal friend and how he's ended up at the pound is beyond us. Urchin is good with other dogs and happy to meet people but is desperate to be loved and cared for.  He seems so lost and confused to be stuck here in our kennels as if he is missing someone. Urchin also has a broken tail which hopefully can be rectified very easily.

20-06-09 UPDATE

After arriving home with Urchin he was very lively but after a few days and a lot of energy sapping walks he started to settle with my other dogs, although I was concerned by his broken tail it does not seem to cause him any problems at all. Urchin needs to be homed with an experienced owner as being a typical terrier he wants to chase everything that moves and that would probably include cats. Urchin can be dominant with some dogs and I suspect this is because he has had to look after himself in his previous home, that apart he is a very affectionate and people friendly dog that does not seem to be bothered by children.
Urchin is not food aggressive as he eats with my dogs, is house trained, walks well on a lead and is not bothered by traffic or strange noises. He is happy to be left with the other dogs for a few hours and settles down in his bed for the night at about 8pm. Urchin needs and deserves an active fun home with plenty of stimulating activity, he will run quite happily by the side of a bike, could live on his own but would need to keep up the socialisation with other dogs.

08-11-09 UPDATE

Here's the dilemma six months down the road and Urchin is still here (not a problem as we all love him).  He is very settled and has found his place in my pack.  It has not been plain sailing for us or for him.  He has his faults still as I can't wholly trust him off lead as he would chase anything that was fair game. It goes against the grain for me to keep a dog on a lead as I enjoy seeing them running free, plus he has issues with the odd dog, those are his only faults.
Urchin enjoys being in the garden with my husband and will follow him around all day.  I can even trust him in the chicken run now.  Indoors he is no trouble at all, in fact he has even become a bit of a lap dog and when I put the fire on he gets so close I worry he might go up in smoke.
I would love for him to have a rural home with lots of land to run free, sheds to explore and a human mate with maybe a laid back dog or two.  Actually I quite fancy the rural home myself maybe we should just all move.

YUMA

BEING FOSTERED IN MILTON KEYNES, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE

28-10-09 Yuma has been returned to her foster home today.  Her owners have found her to be food orientated and with a young child in the home it was very easy for Yuma to steal food.  She is not aggressive with this and her fosterer is going to put Yuma back on Burns and increase her food intake to see if this has any effect and will monitor her toilet training as they said they have also had problems with this and will then do an update.
Yuma is a very affectionate dog and loves to snuggle and cuddle on the sofa.  She walks well on the lead and her recall is fairly good but does depend on what else is going on!  She gets on well with other dogs and children but like many dogs will chew toys if they are left on the floor!  She does not like to be left alone for long and would benefit for having another dog in the home for company and to be her friend.

29-10-09 UPDATE
Now that Yuma has been here for a couple of days I've been able to assess the problems mentioned by her previous adopters. She has become quite food orientated. We have increased her food which will hopefully help curb this behaviour.  She has developed spring loaded legs that would put Zebedee to shame! She can jump very high in search of food and will jump up at me if she thinks I have any in my hand. We are working on this. She has, however, learnt that children are a source of food so I don't think a home with small children would be advisable purely because she may inadvertently hurt a small child by jumping. She will sit for a treat and for her food though she has ants in her pants & can only manage a sit for a few seconds! She is learning that all the jumping in the world will not get her a treat but sitting nicely will. Her adopters will need to reinforce this amd be consistent.
Yuma has had a few toilet accidents in the house. I believe this is due to anxiety because she will do it randomly when she's already been outside or is able to get outside because the door is open. I have been crate training her and she slept in her crate by my bed for 9 hours last night without having an accident. This shows me that she's weeing in the house by choice not necessity which makes it a trainable situation. I have been taking her outside regularly and giving her lots of praise & a treat every time she wees outside so she will learn that doing it outside is much more rewarding than doing it inside!
I haven't seen her chew a single thing since she's been back which is how she was before. Again I think the toy chewing was an anxiety thing. Having said that though I do always tell my own children that if something is on the floor its fair game! I haven't tried leaving her yet but will be doing so later on today. She was fine being left for 2 or 3 hours before and I really don't think it will be any different this time though I will build it up slowly just to make sure. She did have perfect recall before too so when I feel she's ready (or when I'm ready as I'm a bit of a "better safe than sorry" kind of person!) I will test this and see how she is.
Yuma is the most delightful girl and once she has bonded with you she will be your friend for life. She is brilliant with all my dogs and fantastic with my children aged 11 and 13. She has slotted back in here as if she has never been away and in the right home she will flourish." I will update again once I've assessed the being left & the recall.

06-11-09 UPDATE
Well what a difference a week makes! Yuma is now almost 100% clean in the house ~ 2 accidents in 4 days is such an improvement. She is a very chilled girl now & although she wolfs her food down & enjoys a treat (or three) she is no longer demanding food all the time. It seems like the Burns has worked its magic & because she isn't hungry she is feeling calmer & happier.
She hasn't been destructive or chewed anything at all & she has the run if the house here so plenty of opportunities if she wanted to. She has now been off lead & her recall is brilliant ~ I think knowing that I have tasty treats in my pocket has helped with that!   She's crate trained & sleeps in her crate all night & I pop her in if I go out during the day. I have left her for 2 hours now & she just sleeps while I'm out.
Yuma is a sensitive soul & like all dogs needs to feel safe & secure. She really needs a calm household where she feels safe & loved & she will thrive on routine & consistency.

BARNEY & DD

BARNEY                            DD

Attention all Dalmatian lovers out there: Barney and DD are 2 great dogs looking for a new home! Put a few treats in your pocket and Barney will be your best friend! He knows how to sit and I’ve no doubt he will work for his food. He has a lovely big smile and enjoys a good scratch. DD is very lovely; she tiptoes around like a little fairy. She likes to play fetch and loves to cuddle. Please do get in touch if you think you may be able to offer these two a home.
 Jemma

22-10-09 Barney is a 4 year old Dalmatian and DD is his 7 year old mum.  They have been returned after 2 years in their home through no fault of their own. They have been the perfect dogs for 2 years and sadly their owner has lost his job and his house and can no longer keep them. We would like them home together as they have always been together. Both are house trained, love people and kids but need a home with NO CATS. Barney is rather over weight at the moment and really could do with a home that enjoys long walks and DD is a very sweet girl who tells Barney off from time to time like any good mum would do!

RUSH

05-11-09  Rush is 3 years old.  She looks like a greyhound but has collie blood in her. She is a very sweet lady. She has lived in a kennel so is not used to an indoor environment and will need time and guidance to learn about house training etc. She is good with other dogs and will learn and be far happier with one around.

MAX

05-11-09 Max is a 2 year old collie.  He is supposed to be a working sheepdog and was brought to us or he was being put to sleep as he does not do the job the farmer wanted. He is very friendly and seems a lovely dog. He will need house training as has probably never been inside a house and another dog would help him learn about this quicker.

FREDDIE

BEING FOSTERED IN SWINDON, WILTSHIRE

01-09-09 Freddie is a passionate 10 month old lab cross. He adores people and being made a fuss of. He was ½ an hour from being put to sleep at the pound when rescued. His history was that he ripped up lino and things at home was demanding and over the top. But this a young and misunderstood fellow who was bored out of his mind and who had the misfortune to live with people lees intelligent than himself so instead of being trained taught and given something to do, he re decorated the home, barked far attention and spun with excitement. Man has a lot to answer for and sadly that so nearly cost Freddie his precious life!!!!!  He will chase cats so a cat free home only please.

10-09-09 UPDATE

Freddie is quite a handful, he's still a very young dog and has a lot of growing up and calming down to do but needs an experienced hand to guide him down the right path. However, he is so dedicated to his loved people that he should pick things up very quickly if taught properly. We don't think that anyone has ever given him any boundaries or rules before and, as he's so brave and really not frightened of a single thing.
Freddie loves other dogs but because he's had no real experience at meeting or socializing with them he has absolutely no manners. He generally means well but his full on approach can annoy other dogs. All this will get better while he's with us as our staff and trusted volunteers know how to control and guide a dog that needs to improve around other animals. He will live quite happily with another dog without any real issue.  With a less experienced handler he might be better off with one female dog but anyone that can control their dogs he's not a big problem.
There aren't many dogs out there with more character than Freddie. He is learning how to behave and it isn't his fault that nobody's shown him this already.

21-09-09 UPDATE

Now this Freddie is one clever and active dog. He is so ready for a job. He has collie brains too. I would love to see an agility enthusiast take him on as he really would thrive learning to do something he really loves. He is very playful with other dogs, but is very stressed in a kennel and will turn circles and look miserable. He will also chew if bored so needs an active home. To sum up what he needs, a busy lively active lifestyle where he will have his brain challenged and his energy drained and a whole load of love to top all that off.

19-10-09 UPDATE

Hmmm, now what can I say about Freddie, has anyone seen or read ‘Marley & Me’??!! He was made for this role!
This cheeky chap has a collie brain that when not worked stimulates itself with acts of naughtiness. He is bold as brass and in desperate need of clear consistent handling. We are currently in the process of reinforcing discipline with a squirty bottle of water as Freddie has no idea what the commands  mean, they are just words to him that he seems to hear on a regular basis!
I am pleased to report though that this lovely little guy when given the correct guidance so wants to please and is trying really hard to understand what we want from him. At 10 months, Freddie is a puppy through and through. There is a distinct lack of respect for people and dogs (purely because he has never been taught how to behave) and although he adores both, his manners need a lot of work.
He is living with my pack of 3 Dobes who are playing a very large part in his training.  He is fantastic in the car, walks well on the lead and runs free with the long line trailing. His recall is fantastic, better than my lot in fact! We have been to busy parks and are in the process of teaching him about saying hello to other people and dogs in a calmer manner as Freddie is sooooo friendly that he just wants to bowl over to anyone and everyone to leap on them and introduce himself.  He is attending obedience classes, which he loves because he gets to use his brain, and comes out with me to agility shows where he can meet and play with lots of other dogs. He has already learnt so much in the week he has been with other, he will recall, sit, down, go to his bed when we are eating and generally understand that a click of the fingers or "Oi" is there to correct unwanted behaviour.
Freddie has met and is wonderful with children but due to his mouthing and desire to play with their toys, he would be best homed with older dog savvy children who know how to correct him properly.
The special lad is one of those dogs in a million, he truly doesn't have a bad bone in his body and is just a confused teenager. He will need an ACTIVE home where someone can really dedicate their time to training him and in return he will be the most loving, clever, rewarding little guy. I feel Freddie should be homed with at least one other playful yet patient dog as he loves their company and snuggling up to them in an evening.
He loves going out with the bike, running and will I'm sure be fantastic at obedience or agility. He desperately craves love and attention, from day one he has been my absolute shadow and at the moment he is only ever really relaxed when lying at your feet sleeping after some intense physical and mental exercise. He is giving us his absolute everything and that is all he asks for in return from his new family. If you feel you can fulfil his needs please come and meet him, he has so much character, you won't be able to resist.

05-11-09 UPDATE

Well I have to give this little guy 10 out of 10 for effort! He can jump through our serving hatch and squeeze past pretty much any blockade in the way to get into the kitchen to investigate the worktops. He’s also worked out that although we’ve turned the bookcase round to stop him borrowing the books, he can, with determination prise open the wooden backing to get to them anyway! The crate also has cable ties on all the corners now as he is able to squeeze himself out of that too!
Now although all of the above may make you think, what a naughty pup, I prefer to look a little deeper and just be seriously impressed with how clever he is. He tries so hard to be good but there are bound to be some slip-ups. He's not what I would class as a destructive dog.  He hasn’t touched any of the sofas, floor, curtains, etc. He is just struggling to understand the difference between his toys and a candle, ornament or book.
We are persevering with crate training but he is not happy in it. He only spends very short periods of time in it at the moment. I would say Freddie does have some anxiety issues so we’re gradually increasing the time he is left.
On the plus side, he is one quick learner and will eventually grow out of these traits. He is completely house trained, sleeps soundly all night (out of the crate), responds well to commands. He loves his toys and would play all day long if he could; he’s still learning to share with the other dogs but has enough respect for us now that he’ll drop things on command.
Freddie is a highly excitable chap.  We are working really hard on calm introductions. He is introduced to new dogs on the long line and corrected.  Once he understands that this is not acceptable he’s usually more than happy to go off and play with them. This is something that will need to be worked on continuously with him. He would love a home with at least one other dog though as he just looooves to play.  He and our very dominant bitch play all day long, he can be very rough and she is teaching him that grabbing ears and pulling skin is not acceptable by doing the same back, to which he’ll yelpand then carry on playing but a little more gently.
Freddie is progressing well in obedience and had his first taste of agility last week, not surprisingly he loved it! Being in a class with 7 other ‘wired’ agility dogs was a little full-on to say the least but once he had something to concentrate on, he was far more interested in working for his toy. He has absolutely no fear and was flying through curved tunnels and down a line of jumps after just one session, definitely something he’d excel in. If you are after a highly intelligent, active dog then Freddie is your man.
Most of what I have written may seem rather negative but this is a dog who has never been taught right from wrong, not socialised and been deprived of attention and love. It is therefore so important that whoever adopts him knows exactly what they are taking on and are able to commit to him 100%. If you can provide him with what he needs, you won’t find a dog that will love you more in return.

SASHA

BEING FOSTERED IN SWANSEA

15-10-09 Sasha has been a breeding bitch all her life and is 5 years old. She does walk on the lead a little, but really needs to learn about life. She will need another forward going dog to live with. She is very sweet and very pretty.  Please only apply for her if you already have a resident dog or dogs living in the home.

LADY

16-10-09 Lady is a very sweet 6 year old ex breeding lab who is no longer needed.  She is very sweet but very uneducated and doesn't really know how to walk on a lead.  She only understands life living with other dogs so a home with at least one other resident dog is essential for this girl.

Lady  is a fabulous fun-loving and affectionate girle who absolutely adores toys! She is a natural retriever and will fetch any toy you throw for her. She also loves her cuddles and will make someone a wonderful companion. She can waver around a little on the lead but just needs a bit more practise walking in a straight line! She walks at a nice steady pace, without pulling.

Being fostered in Swansea.

TAYTO

BEING FOSTERED IN CALNE, WILTSHIRE

03-11-09 Tayto is an 18 month old Lab cross.  He is a really happy and friendly boy who has been returned because he will chase cats. Tayto is a brilliant boy with no malice but, at the moment, few manners! He's a very bright lad though and since being here he has learnt to follow a tasty food lure into a sitting position and to hold this position just long enough for us to get a nice photograph, showing what a gorgeous boy he is! Tayto would love to continue with his training and to learn a verbal cue to sit and other positions also! He is a very sweet boy and loves his cuddles and really deserves a cat free and ACTIVE home to call his own.

ICE

01-10-09 Ice is an 18 month old huskamute who has lived as a stud dog and is now looking for a pet home. Ice is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. He has little or no experience of pet life though and has lived his whole life on the farm where he was possibly even born. He will need time to settle to a new life and would value another dog in the home to learn from. As a stud dog he will have only met other dogs for one reason and so at the moment he's still a bit frisky, this will start to calm down after we castrate him but he might better be suited to live with a large female dog than any other combination.

26-10-09 UPDATE

Ice is a super sweet boy, he loves to cuddle, but also loves to play, and can be excitable. He would make a fantastic jogging partner and keeps a steady pace along side of you. He really should have found his forever home by now.

03-11-09 UPDATE
Ice may be large but is a big teddy bear! Don’t be put off by his size – he walks well on the lead, without pulling, whatever speed you choose to go, though jogging suits him best. He is friendly and affectionate with people and  likes to place his paws on your shoulders and lick your face in greeting, however isn’t pushy and will happily receive affection with all four paws on the ground. Ice enjoys the company of other dogs but may be OK to go to a home by himself, so long as his owners are home most of the day to keep him company and provide him with the right guidance.

BRANDY

BEING FOSTERED IN BLABY, LEICESTERSHIRE

15-09-09 This is dear sweet gentle Brandy. She has had to be returned to us as her Mum is not well and is having to leave her for long times whilst having treatment. Brandy is a very gentle, sweet dog and very good with children and most cats!  Her house training needs some work but it's OK. She is good with dogs and was only given up as circumstances ruled this. The previous owner was VERY sad to say goodbye, so we hope to find her a home or foster home quickly. She will be needing an existing canine for company.

09-10-09 UPDATE

Brandy has now been here nearly three weeks and I am amazed how quickly Brandy has settled in to our routine. She gets on very well with all five of my bitches. She wont stand any nonsense from Dolly the puppy and is not afraid to stand up for herself but she does it in a very nice way. She is very good with my four cats and has made no attempt to chase any of them. We have met children whilst out on walks and she has been friendly and calm with them as well. She loves people especially if they have something nice in their pocket! Her house training has come on really well. I have crated her at night which she is fine with. She is now left out of the crate during the day if I have to go out and she has not had any accidents since the first couple of days she came here. She is very sweet natured and affectionate. Her recall is very good. She seems to get on well with dogs and bitches. She will happily get in the car and travels well in the car crate with my other dogs. Brandy is a really lovely girl and deserves a new forever home of her own. Please consider her if you are looking for a friendly affectionate laid back little girl.

03-11-09 UPDATE
What can i say about this girl, well to start with she is just the sweetest dog you have ever met.  She will put her paws up on your knee and look into your eyes forever...as you can tell I have fallen head over heals in love with her. After many hours deliberation with my family we have decided that we want to keep fostering and so Brandy is still looking for her forever home.
I do not know why she is still waiting, she has now been let down twice by potential adopters who have decided she is not right without even meeting her! She is the ideal dog for just about any situation. We have had no problems with toileting apart from scenting when she first goes somewhere new.  She is laid back at home and active out on her walks. She has good recall and loves to meet just everyone, human and canine alike. She is happy to go out in the car and is brilliant with my 2 year old son, who can be at times very enthusiastic with the dogs.
Brandy is still a little overweight, but we have fitted in an extra walk for her and continue her diet, which she is not so keen on. We are introducing her to a ball, which she has just started to show a little interest in, so we shall see.\
Brandy is a credit to her previous owner and fosterer as she is not like most ex breeding dogs and could be homed on her own as long as someone was with her during the day, she is however currently living with my 2 bitches and 1 dog and is very content. Please consider Brandy, she is just wonderful!

STORM

BEING FOSTERED IN LEICESTER

28-10-09 Storm is a gorgeous 2 year old huskamute, who is a credit to her breed. She has come here as my foster dog as her  owners said she was very nervous and did not seem to be happy
.  She has only been with me for a day so I'm still getting to know her myself! She is now with 3 other dogs and 2 cats, she isn't fazed by any of them. You'll see on the photo's she has made a new best friend in my 2 year old female Akita. She is a little wary at the minute, having just moved in this is understandable. I'll post more pictures and more about her soon.

03-11-09 UPDATE

Storm has been with me for a week now, and boy what a difference a week makes. She is still a bit worried about strange noises but surprisingly not the hoover, the hairdryer and she doesn't mind you sweeping or mopping around her!! I am greeted every morning with a big smile and that huge tail wagging, she will occasionally talk to me too. She plays with her toys and doesn't get in the least possessive over them, my boy can just go and take it from her mouth and she just lets him; what a lady. It takes her a little while to trust people but what a reward when she does. This girl is gorgeous and will make a lovely pet; she just needs a lot of love, time and patience

PAMPER

Please click the image and have a look at Pamper's slide show.

PAMPER'S STORY

30-07-09 Pamper is a 6 year old ex breeding Mini Schnauzer who wasn’t wanted as she had to have a c-section to have pups. She is a quiet and bewildered little lady at the moment and will need a home with another gentle, kind dog to help her.

04-08-09 UPDATE

We discovered the reason for Pamper’s bewilderment - she has Cataracts.  We cannot possibly deny Pamper the same success and joy to life that Imagine (our other Schnauzer) is experiencing - so we have to find another £3,500 to give her the opportunity.

20-08-09 UPDATE

The Ophthalmologist feels it is definitely worth trying to remove the Cataracts even though her sight may not be left perfect (as it would have if they’d been removed earlier).

11-10-09: Although the Vet didn’t manage to fit artificial lenses, he did manage to remove the Cataracts from both eyes improving her sight immensely – what a difference already!!!  She now races around the room and is often caught watching TV – it is such a wonderful gift to give – so a huge THANK YOU everyone for making it possible.  Pamper is just a joy to have around! She is so friendly and has settled in very well with the other dogs.  She is totally clean in the house, is quiet at night and is just the perfect little companion!  She’s such a lovely dog and showed such bravery. All she needs now is a forever home!!

03-11-09 UPDATE
Pamper has been back to see her consultant and he is very pleased with her progress. One of her eyes is still a little sore, so needs more frequent eye drops – and she will need another check in 1 month. It should be fine for her to go to her new home, but preferably within travelling distance of Abingdon in Oxfordshre so she can go back to her vet for check ups. She is the nicest little schnauzer I have ever met – and will enhance anybodies life! She is a little shy until she gets to know you, and a little upset by load noises – so a home without children would be best for her. She loves the other little dogs, and makes them all play with her. Her recall is fantastic as she just loves to be petted, so just can’t get to you quick enough. She is totally clean in the house, good with the cats – she is just the perfect little house guest.

EMMA

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

29-05-09 Emma is a special girl needing a special home – She’s a 3½ year old Mini Schnauzer ex breeding bitch. She had only come in a few weeks ago but sadly has been returned because her adopter's vet found she had a low grade heart murmur.  Emma is very scared and will need time and help to adapt. She will also need a home with another small gentle and kind dog to be her friend and a dedicated owner who has the time and patience for her to blossom.

17-07-09 UPDATE

It is very evident that Emma has trust issues and will need time to relax and settle.  She’ll need a quiet, calm household where another small confident dog will be her friend.  At this stage, she won’t cope with children or big dogs so an adult home without large dogs is needed.  She is very noise reactive and she’s incredibly nervous around sudden movements.  I’m sure with time all of these issues will improve.

11-08-09 UPDATE

After these past months Emma is showing signs of slowly improving all the time – it’s such a joy to see this scared little dog finally beginning to enjoy life!  However, she is still often scared of people and if approached directly she is spooked easily.

08-10-09 UPDATE

Emma has overcome yet more hurdles; she’s 100% housetrained, good as gold with other small dogs and cats, walks well on the lead and also fine to be left on her own (with other dogs) for reasonable periods.

29-10-09 UPDATE

Hi Emma here
Well, I’ve been coming along very well. My foster mummy has been doing a lot of work with me (something called Tellington TTouch), which involves touching me in a certain way – firstly with a feather on a stick – but now I’m a bit braver, she does it with her hand and I always get a yummy treat when she’s finished! It has taught me that she’s not going to hurt me, so I relax more when people come towards me – although I am still quite scared.
I have been going to the groomer for the last couple of weeks as my hair has got VERY out of control. I have been going and just sitting on the table and letting the groomer gently touch me. She then showed me the clippers, first turned off and then turned on. I didn’t like it much, but I realized it wasn’t that bad, so just sat quietly while this was going on. Then yesterday I was taken again to the groomer and she started shaving my hair off! Well – this was a bit of a shock, but my foster mummy was with me and gently held me and talked to me so I wasn’t too frightened. It was all over in less than an hour – and now I look GORGEOUS!
I love other little dogs, but get very scared of big dogs – so will need a home with another confident small dog for me to make friends with. I do walk very nicely on the lead now, but would prefer to only walk in private areas as I often get very scared if I see other people or scary things around.  All I’m waiting for is a special forever home as I’m such a special girl!

03-11-09 UPDATE
Helping Emma is going to be a long and slow process and even then there is no guarantee she will ever completely overcome all her fears. She’s going to need a forever home where she is accepted for what she is and loved for the way she is – but she’s worth it!

HETTY

BEING FOSTERED IN READING

16-10-09 Hetty is a 6 year old Schnauzer who has come to us from a breeding kennels. She is very nervous at the moment, this is probably the first time she's left what was her home and everything in the world is new and worrying.  Hetty will learn about people and about living as a loved pet very quickly but will need the help of another dog.

03-11-09 UPDATE
Hetty has been with me for just over a week now, and she is making slow but steady progress. Initially not too impressed by the other dogs, she is now interacting with them and is now even playing madly with little Pamper! No problem with the cats. She is very shy and frightened, and will not allow me to approach her without running away. I can fuss her when she is in her pen, and she is getting better with this and is beginning to be less afraid. She has started to learn lead walking but still has a way to go. It is early days yet, but she is gradually settling in and learning to trust humans again.

IMAGINE

BEING FOSTERED IN BERKSHIRE

04-07-09 Imagine is a 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer who was no longer needed by her breeder. She was initially very nervous of people, being handled and had problems with her eyesight but this was operated on in the hope of restoring her sight.  Please read Imagine’s journey of hope and bravery.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company.  They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. 18-06-09 Update

02-07-09: Brave Imagine began her pre-surgery eye drops regime and was booked in for her surgery in a couple of days thanks to the fantastic generosity of Friends and supporters of Many Tears.

11-07-09 UPDATE
I collected Imagine after her week in hospital.  The cataract in her right eye was removed and a prosthetic lens inserted, but unfortunately the cataract in her left eye was so bad it was only possible to remove it and a lens could not be inserted.  This means she has reasonable sight in the left eye, and very good sight in the right eye!  Fantastic!!

23-07-09 UPDATE
The Ophthalmologist was delighted with Imagine’s progress.  It is absolutely wonderful to see what a different dog Imagine is, now that she has been given the precious gift of sight. She loves to run and play with my own dogs and is even starting to notice toys and to share in chasing after them! From a rather solemn little soul, she is now just full of joy and energy. She is fascinated by the return of the visual world: it was just amazing to see her sit and watch the flight of a butterfly with doggie wonderment on her sweet little face!

22-08-09 UPDATE
Imagine continues with her daily eye drops as one of the Haptics (tiny devices that secure the lens) had moved so underwent corrective surgery.  Although this wasn’t causing her a problem, it would have eventually caused permanent adhesions.

11-10-09 UPDATE
Imagine’s Haptic had moved again, so this time the surgeon rotated the prosthetic lens in the hope of giving a greater structural integrity.  She will need to re-visit the Vets for a check up in a month.   At this stage, any immediate potential adopter needs to be living in the Berkshire or Oxfordshire area (so her check up appointment may be met) until she can be signed off at the Vets.

03-11-09  UPDATE.
Imagine has been checked by the Ophthalmologist, and he is pleased to say that unless any complications occur, she will not need to be seen again for three months, although she must stay on eye drops twice daily.

Imagine is a real darling who’s had such a heart warming journey!  She arrived very fearful of people, situations and of life in general but is blossoming and progressing beautifully!  She’ll certainly need to live with another confident, gentle, small dog (she likes Schnauzers best, and is fearful of larger dogs) and her new owner will need to be patient and understanding.  All relationships in life need work and I do think this little dog is a real case of "nothing worth having ever comes easy" because although she’ll certainly need a specially caring home, she’ll be such a rewarding member of the family once she has fitted in and stolen everyone's hearts. She is good at that!!
