Thank you Thank you to every supporter, fosterer and collectors who meet the van this weekend to collect dogs and bring all the amazing donations. We would love to get some of the gathered goods to our charity shop in Essex, plus any nearly new or new items you could donate. Christmas is a very very expensive time for us with many extra dogs coming in, so any fund raising items would be fantastic. If you can help with this or if you can transport anywhere across the UK either to or from Many Tears please email Janet Mains at janetmains@btinternet.com.
Any ideas???? It's been an obvious problem for 5 years now that the path leading to the office is not wheelchair or pushchair friendly or really even passable. I really want to get this either tarmacced or concreted but there is never enough spare cash for this and it could well cost £1000. If anyone knows a tarmac or concert company that would dump their remaining unwanted loads here we could do this in parts. Has anyone any contacts, or time to write to the companies for me? It would make many very happy and be so much nicer on the dogs paws. Please email info@manytearsrescue.org if you can help. |

Hi Lily here I have been working hard sending out reminders for Lily's Lotto. The next draw is on the 4th December and I have got sore paws from all that typing! Thank you to all my doggy friends, cats and the chicken who have there names in the draw! We have never made the 500 names that I would have liked but we gave Many Tears £1,500 this year. Don't forget you can still enter before the 4th December. To find out more click here. |

Have you adopted a dog from Many Tears and continued to feed it on Burns as we recommend? If so and your dog has thrived on this excellent food please send your story and pictures to info@manytearsrescue.org. We may feature any of these on our Burns page. |

You may remember Norman who we rescued some time ago from going for meat. Norman is a Welsh Mountain Section A type pony and is just over a year old. All his vaccines are done and he has been castrated. He now leads, ties, you can pick his hooves and he is excellent with the farrier. He is only up for homing if we can find a home better than the one he has here. He will need a home that has time to handle him every day. He is used to good shelter as hates the rain. At 3-4 I want who ever adopts him to sign to say they will break him to harness as I feel this will help guarantee him a home forever if his homeever falls through. He will also need company of another horse or more. He is still very playful. He is also very special.
If you can offer Norman a home please call the rescue on 01269 843084 or email Sylvia at sw.vanatta@virgin.net.

ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE? |
|
SEREN Seren is a beautiful Rottweiler who takes time to trust you. She is very unsure at the moment after losing her home. She enjoys her walks here at the centre, but she will need an experienced owner as she can become aggressive towards other dogs if not handled correctly. Here she walks past and with other dogs with no problem but any bad behaviour is corrected so she knows what is expected of her. She is very clever and easy to train. She knows commands in Welsh and English this proves how clever she is. She likes to work for food and this could benefit a new owner in building her trust in people. To find out more about Seren click here. |

BEING FOSTERED IN DUNDRY, BRISTOL
10-11-09 Daisy is a gorgeous 3 and a half month old collie cross who was rescued from the pound before she was put to sleep. Imagine leaving your dog at a pound that only gives them a few days to find a new home. Thankfully this girl was saved and now has a second chance. Could that be with you?
16-11-09 UPDATE
Daisy by Daisy
Here is a photo of Daisy the puppy with Daisy my daughter, Daisy has done Daisy's update for her!
Daisy is cuddly, cute, licky and funny, she wags her tail a lot, she likes to play and is very smart, but very bouncy! This dog would right for anyone (maybe not tiny kids) who likes to walk a lot and who has time to play lots with her and go to the park everyday!
Love from Daisy xxx
23-11-09 UPDATE
Daisy is one of the smartest collie pups I've met, she is adorable, cuddly, crated trained and easy to train. She wouldn't make an ideal first dog or your average family pet unless you are collie savvy as she will need lots of things to stimulate her. Daisy gets on great with other dogs and kids and doesn't have an edge to her at all, but she does bark at the hair dryer and at reflections on the conservatory roof etc!
Being fostered in Dundry Bristol .

BEING FOSTERED IN INGATESTONE, ESSEX
05-11-09 Rift is a 3 year old westie ex breeding bitch, She is a scared lady but with other dogs she is totally at ease. She will come round and learn to enjoy a home life given time. She will need another dog to help her so please only apply if you already have an existing dog or dogs living in the home.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up.
23-11-09 UPDATE

Rift has been with us for a week now. She is a very sweet, gentle little girl. Although she is still timid and nervous we are catching glimpses of a loving, playful character. When she first arrived she would go rigid if touched but she now enjoys her back rubbed and ears scratched. She will hide away still sometimes but when brought back out stays with us. She wants to be fussed but isn’t sure how to go about it.
She has been walking on an extending lead over fields where her favourite thing is to roll around (she does not stay white very long!). She panics a bit when strangers approach but after a minute will stand still and wait while you chat. If they approach her gently she will allow them to tickle her under her chin. She played with a ball for the first time today rather like a cat, she also tried to initiate play with our miserable 15 year old pug who wasn’t really interested. She is about 90% housetrained and sleeps without a sound and clean through the night in a crate which is next to one of our dogs. She is a lovely girl but will need patience and understanding from a new owner and a kind little friend to play with.
Being fostered in INGATESTONE, ESSEX.

BEING FOSTERED IN WESTON-SUPER-MARE, SOMERSET

05-11-09 Reuben is an 8 month old whippet. He and his brother were brought to us as their pensioner owner could not stop them wondering from the property. They are both just beautiful.
12-11-09 UPDATE
Reuben has been with us for a few days now and is settling in quite well. He is very friendly and loves to be cuddled. At the moment we also have his brother here so it's been quite difficult to judge him as an individual. What we have noticed though is that he is very outgoing and confident and think he would be fine as an only dog as he doesn't seem to be too reliant on Monty. He is a really sweet dog and has got on great with everyone he's met so far. He has met our cat and was more scared of her than she was of him. He is clean in the house but other than that has had little or no training. I'm sure he would be easy to train once separated from Monty. He is still very playful and lots of fun. I can honestly say i have laughed more in the last few days than I have in a long time. Reuben would make a great addition to any family.
17-11-09 UPDATE
Reuben has been with us for a week now and all is going well. His brother Monty was adopted on Saturday, and he didn't seem to be too bothered!! We thought he might be a bit lost without him but we needn't have worried. He is as confident as ever just a little calmer - which we are grateful for! We brought home another foster dog today and he welcomed him warmly. I can't understand why he is still here, we really did think he would've been snapped up straight away, Monty's new owners commented on how much better looking Reuben is in the flesh and they're right, his pictures really don't do him justice. He is starting to pay more attention to us now his brother isn't here to distract him so hopefully we will be able to teach him some of the basics before he leaves us he is a smart dog and i don't think it will be too hard. He is good with children of all ages, especially if they have a biscuit in their hand!! He still backs off from the cat if he meets her face to face, i don't know if he would give chase if she ran he doesn't stick around long enough, he runs away himself.
23-11-09 UPDATE
We thought Reuben had found his forever home last week but, unfortunately it fell through due to their work commitments, so sadly he is still waiting for a permanent home. There's not really a whole lot more i can say about Reuben that I haven't already said - still cuddly, still clean, still a bouncy pup and still scared of the cat!! He has chilled slightly since we brought the older foster dog home last weekend, but is still playful and energetic. Just an absolutely beautiful dog, who should have been snapped up weeks ago.

22-11-09 Asha is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel. She and her sisters have been kept as breeding dogs and not lived in a house. They have now been retired and are looking for lovely pet homes. We were told by the breeder that they fought if together but these 4 girls are getting along very well in pairs. They are braver and a little more confident around people than some of the breeding girls we take in but will still need a home with another dog.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. What a sweetie pie! Patch is such an affectionate and cute little fella. He walks well on the lead and loves to play too. He will chase after a small tennis ball and happily returns it to you and loves the praise that comes with it! He also likes to play tug with a soft toy and will readily release his hold. He loves his treats and this morning was learning to sit, down and target my hand. This little guy would really love a home to call his own!

19-11-09 Zac is a male 5yr old ex stud dog. He is a bit nervous but walks on a lead and is happy to be fussed. He will need another doggy companion to help him find his paws! Please only apply for Zac if you have another dog or dogs who will help him learn about living in a home.

ZEST IS NOT READY FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNTIL THE WEBSITE SAYS HE IS READY. |

25-05-09 UPDATE

Bramble can play a little too rough but Jack the Black Terrier mix will tolerate no nonsense and firmly puts her in her place and Bramble absolutely loves him. I’ve discovered that Bramble really enjoys wading in the river and this latest photo shows her cooling off whilst sat on the rocks. Given half the chance she has always been very loving with me and anyone who talks to her so I’m hoping that an experienced owner will fall for her as I have because she really is a very special girl.
21-06-09 UPDATE
Over the last couple of weeks Bramble has really turned a corner. She is beginning to interact better with the other dogs in my home and they are now more accepting of her. Despite remaining vocal she is friendly to other dogs when out on our walks and people too. There remains one problem which I haven't been able to resolve yet; she occasionally gets spooked when out on our walks and it's never the same thing. Sometimes its a vehicle that spooks her or a person, man or woman (never children). When this happens she freaks out and starts barking and biting in shear panic. If I didn't take a firm hold of the lead there's a chance she would nip my leg. Any other time she has never attempted to bite or nip me or anyone else. She will try to nibble you in a playful way though. She adored having my 16 month old grandson to stay and was receptive to commands from my son. If Bramble was adopted by an experienced dog owner who was prepared to give her time to settle then they would be rewarded with a very loving dog because she really is very affectionate.
16-07-09 UPDATE
With each passing week as Bramble has become more accustomed to my routine she has relaxed a little more and has completely changed from a shell-shocked manic dog to a happy, chirpy, cheeky and sometimes naughty little minx! She is definitely much more relaxed with her environment and the other dogs. However, we did have a set back the other week; she was happily trailing behind me on her lead when a woman past us and said "Good Morning"; Bramble flew into a state of sheer panic and bit me on the heel. I bent down and held her by the neck until the panic had passed and we continued on our way. On this basis I now only let her off lead when there are no other dogs or people in sight or they are dogs and people she knows. (Her recall continues to remain good.) I also now put a harness on her when we go for a walk so that I have better control of her and I ensure that she walks by my side! I started calling her Bramble-Tarcara as I have had so many comments about her being such a beautiful dog it seemed only fitting that she should have an appropriate name. The first time I called her this she wagged her tail in delight as if to confirm that Tacara really was a fitting name for her. Tacara meaning 'beautiful one'.
08-09-09 UPDATE
Whilst Bramble has settled well into family life I'm still hoping that someone is looking for another Beagle to compliment their family as Bramble would really benefit from a batty Beagle playmate. Since Jack the Lad left she hasn't had another who wants to play with her and to hear her pitiful cry when she's rejected by the other dogs is heart-rendering. Little Tacara so wants to be part of a pack and when she tries to snuggle up to my Scottie cross Timmy he just shuns her and Teagan my Yorkie just about tolerates her.
To recap, Tacara is fully house-trained and sleeps happily through the night but she does have the company of two other dogs in the kitchen. She walks well on the lead and has good recall. She's good with most dogs but other dogs don't always like her! She's interested in the cat but not obsessed. She's met by 18 month old grandson when he came to visit for a few days and she doesn't seem bothered by his howling and screeching! She's left with my other dogs three times a week for approximately 3 hours and she's fine. She also travels well.
Finally, I went away for a few days in August and she was looked after by three adults who had a Jack Russell. Whilst Bramble wasn't keen on her a quick squirt with the water pistol kept her in check! I have grown to really love her and could happily adopt her but I want the best for Bramble and I feel that would be with other beagles where she was part of the pack. I do hope she finds her new family soon as the longer I have her the harder it will be for me to part with her but more importantly Bramble needs a family she can call her own.
15-10-09 UPDATE
Bramble continues to make good progress and is interacting much better with my other two dogs. I've now realized what has been Bramble's main problem; she is very hard of hearing. Because of her keen sense of smell and her ability to react when the other dogs do I never realized that it was her hearing or lack of it that was creating the problems with her. Now this has been established I ensure that when I give basic commands that this is followed up with a hand signal. Obviously, this is probably the cause for her panic mode when we've been out on walks as she's has been suddenly startled by people/things just appearing. Its taken a few months but she is now a happy and relaxed dog who loves her walks, her chews and most of all her cuddles! Please do consider her but please remember to reap the rewards that I have you are going to have to be very patient and understanding until she feels safe and loved in her new environment.
19-11-09 UPDATE
I recently moved home and Bramble came with us. She was very well behaved on the journey despite it taking over five hours. She has settled well into her new foster home but then she came with her foster family, Teagan (yorkie), Timmy (scottie/j.r. x) and a recent addition to our family T.J. (scottie/j.r. x). Bramble interacts well with Timmy and T.J. but is only tolerated by Teagan so a home with a medium sized male dog would be ideal for her. She has come on leaps and bounds since I first began to foster her and is now a happy, friendly and as always ever affectionate dog. However, because of her breed she will always be a little minx and just like marmite you will either hate her or love her and I without question love her!

YASMIN WILL NOT BE READY FOR ADOPTION UNTIL SHE IS 8 WEEKS OLD AND HAS UNDERGONE THERAPY. |

18-10-09 Yasmine is a sweetie. She is a 5 wk old Shih Tzu who has come to Many Tears as she is a swimmer pup. Many puppies with this syndrome may not walk as a normal dog. Yasmine will need a home that has researched into this and who would be able to help her continue her therapy.
Being fostered in Kent.

Jet is a super friendly guy who is desperate to find a forever home. He is a natural retriever and can be seen here thoroughly enjoying a game of fetch with me this morning. He is super keen and smart too. We started some clicker training today and Jet was giving his paw and spinning within minutes! He is handsome and affectionate and would make a fine companion for an experienced owner.

BEING FOSTERED IN FLEET, HAMPSHIRE
26-10-09 Max is a 5 yr old cross breed boy who came in with his brother (who has now been rehomed). He is about the size of a tall cocker and is a little bag of fun! A lady adopted them from somebody who was emigrating, now she is unable to keep them. She called the largest animal welfare group who stated that due to a skin complaint (a touch of mange that was already being treated by this ladies vet) that they would be putting them to sleep. She was devastated by this news and called us. We are treating Max's skin and he is here waiting patiently for his forever home to come along. He has lived with kids, cats and rabbits, and although are good with the cats indoors did chase them a little outside, but it was described as a two way game with the cat and he was scarred of the two kittens! He is housetrained and ready to go.
05-11-09 UPDATE

Although I've only had Max for a couple of days, I can honestly say that he's an absolutely gorgeous little chap. He is such a well balanced, friendly, confident and calm lad. He has joined my clan so easily and is an absolute delight. The only issue that needs to be worked on is that he pulls like a train on the lead. He is however desperate to be off running and playing with my lot but it's too soon for him to be let off just yet. He loves playing chase in the garden. He's very quick and very very agile! He is excellent in the car, friendly to everyone (canine, feline or human), eats well, sleeps all night, is completely non destructive when left. He's also a complete cuddle monster and will snuggle up at every opportunity. He's a little star and I can't recommend him highly enough. In the photo he's the one on the sofa - I keep having to look twice as he's so similar to one of mine. In my opinion he's certainly confident enough to be an only dog but as he's always lived with another I think he would prefer to live with a friend or two. Please fill in the form and apply for this little cracker and he will be your best friend for life.
15-11-09 UPDATE

Max continues to do very well, I hardly know he's here as he is such a good boy and just fits in with my three. His hair is slowly but surely growing back to cover the small areas where he was bald (mainly his back legs). He loves coming out on his walks and does get quite excited at the prospect but is totally exhausted when he gets home. I will be letting him off lead next week so am working on his recall - I will be armed with sausage and cheese! As you can see in the group photo he is absolutely fine with dogs of all shapes & sizes. We had a doggy party while there was a local fireworks display, he was not bothered at all. This little boy is fabulous, just sadly (like so many others) waiting for his forever home.

BEING FOSTERED IN COWBRIDGE, VALE OF GLAMORGAN
22-09-09 Santo is a 1½ year old thin loving male collie type. He was at the pound and was to be destroyed but an angel saved him and we took him on. He is dog friendly and although has little training he is a star who wants to love and be loved.
12-10-09 UPDATE

Santo has been with us for a week. He is extremely loving and friendly to all he meets. This includes other dogs, cats and kittens, children and adults. He is thriving on the attention and affection that we give him and he returns this double fold. He wants to please and is responding to training, this includes toilet training (dry every night and has been dry during the day for the past three days) and the command of sit, wait and off.
Santo is gradually getting use to living in a house and is more relaxed with household sounds and noises, such as the television and washing machine; nevertheless, the vacuum cleaner so far remains the big ogre. Santo is now much more use to a collar and lead, and he is beginning to enjoy his walks. However, he is very uncertain and nervous of any type of traffic; yet I do get a strong impression that in the past he has tried to either round up or chase bicycles and motorbikes. I firmly believe that Santo has had no previous training, and that this lovely, lovely boy will blossom and show how able and intelligent he his with the benefit of both formal and agility training.
25-10-09 UPDATE
Santo is much more relaxed in every way and is improving with regard to traffic. He is walking better on the lead and pulls only occasionally. Santo has been on car journeys and presented with no problems at all. He knows his name and comes when called, he knows the 'down' command now as well and is getting good with the 'stay' command. Santo is truly a lovely boy and remains affectionate to all. He loves to curl up of an evening on the settee with his head resting on someone's lap, he loves to have cuddles.
12-11-09 UPDATE

Santo has added 'leave it' and 'wait' to his understanding of commands and will now respond to double commands such as 'sit and wait'. Considering he has had no previous training he has shown us his 'Collie intelligence' in double quick time.
Santo is continuing to steadily relax and is happy to be left for short periods, he will even stay in the same room as his demon--the vacuum cleaner! However, Santo is not to be trusted off lead as it has become apparent he will chase cars, although he is frightened of them. Walking down the High Street is not a problem and he often ignores the traffic, but rural roads where cars come straight at him, ie, narrow or no pavement, would set him off given the chance. On the positive side, Santo is very slowly responding to 'leave it' with a tug on the lead when he starts to pay attention to on coming traffic.
In the home Santo is extremely well behaved, always ready to obey an instruction, knows when it's time to be quiet, will wait patiently for his food and wont touch his full dish until he is told to do so; I am surprised, because as mentioned before, this dog was 'raw'. I believe he had no experience of structure, training or comfort in his life before. Highly possible he'd never entered a home previously and certainly didn't know what a soft, clean basket was used for. Santo is always very happy and friendly with dogs he meets, but his main priority is humans and he adores to spend time with his human family; hence it is not necessary for him to be homed with another canine friend.

13 pups were thrown away under a bush. A vet took them till they could find a rescue to help, We received 9 as the others died from hypothermia. A mercy dash to Leah in Tunbridge wells will put them in expert hands and give them the best chance, but as they may have received no colostrums they may have little chance. Please pray for them and their poor mum, who could be anywhere! To read the pups story click here. |

17-11-09 UPDATE

Why is Gamble still here? She is the smallest left and I believe will make the size of a cocker spaniel, she has all the looks as well. She is really fun, loves a good game and then a big snuggle. She never wants to miss out on what's happening. Again she has had masses of socialisation and will make the perfect family dog. She is so sweet how can you resist?
17-11-09 UPDATE

Beautiful Gander. She is much more like Gosh, with huge pretty eyes and gorgeous wrinkles. She is the largest of the group now and I think she will make collie size. She is hugely funny bouncing all around the place, and play bowing at my big dogs. She is full of character, well socialised and ready to be the perfect family pet!

Dixie was found on the streets and taken to a vet as he was in a bit of a state. After 4 baths to try and get the grime and grease out before they could get the fleas and lice off, they finally gave up and shaved him. Then sadly as he was walking himself around the yard of the vet's practice he was kicked by a horse and had had to have the left eye removed. It gets worse - as then a few weeks later in the same yard at the same practice was hit by a car and needed the other eye removed, leaving him eyeless and blind.
But despite all that he's a happy, brave and loving lad who still hasn't learnt to fear danger! He'll need a family who can take very good care of him and watch his every move, as he obviously can't be trusted to look after himself!
Being fostered in Bedfont, Middlesex.

kBEING FOSTERED IN WARMINSTER, WILTSHIRE

22-09-09 Sooner is a 2 year old dog friendly lurcher. He is a funny, happy fellow who is a little under greyhound height. He would love you to come and meet him - PLEASE!!!!!
13-10-09 UPDATE
I picked Sooner up on Sunday. He has no issues about travelling in a car. He's an incredibly affectionate and very clever dog who takes an interest in everything, takes well to commands and learns really quickly. Lead training and house training are both coming on well. In fact he's been clean in the house for the last 24 hours.
So far he's slept through the night without trouble, too. He doesn't bark at all. I've left him for a couple hours in a room by himself when I went out, and he seemed perfectly content to be alone - as long as he has a comfortable bed to curl up in, a ball to play with and something to eat, not much else matters to this happy-natured, handsome dog.
All in all, he is adorable and very loveable indeed!
16-10-09 UPDATE

What a fabulous dog Sooner is! Loving and affectionate, but also very spirited and lively. He's great fun to have around, an incredibly quick learner and, according to the dog trainer who gave him a lesson yesterday, very intelligent. In fact, he was learning to do tricks within the space of half an hour, and absolutely loved it!
What more could anyone want in a dog? He's incredibly handsome and special, eager to learn, and everyone he meets falls in love with him. As you can see he's made himself thoroughly comfortable here, but would love a forever home where his new master or mistress would really enjoy training him. And hopefully there'd be another playful dog in the house, too.
02-11-09 UPDATE
Sooner's now been with me for three weeks, and I can't understand why no Lurcher-lover has snapped him up yet. He's a real character, endearing, affectionate, very loveable and such fun to have around. He's also very handsome - everyone he meets falls in love with him. Watching him run is a joy - he's as fast as a racehorse and takes such pleasure in it.
He loves to play with other dogs, and isn't aggressive with them. Yesterday he went to an ex-Many Tears puppy's first birthday party, and had a wonderful time playing with five other, smaller dogs. It was chaos but he behaved impeccably! However, I think he's slightly too large to be homed with anything smaller than a Jack Russell, or with very young children.
Sooner seldom barks, is not destructive when left, and sleeps in his basket all night without disturbing anyone. He's now 100% housetrained, and sits to command - as long as there's a treat in it for him. His recall still needs working on; at the moment it's hit and miss.
Lurcher-savvy owners, a comfortable bed, and another playful dog, or even a whole pack of them, would suit Sooner perfectly. If you meet him you're sure to fall for him. He's irresistible!!
09-11-09 UPDATE (FROM SOONER'S NEW FOSTER HOME)
Sooner came to live with me on Saturday (7/11) and what a star he is!! He is so gentle and kind with my children (aged 6 and 8) and loves it when they fuss him and tickle his tummy. Sooner is a typical young lurcher in that he loves nothing more than some exercise and a filled kong but once he has worn his energy off will sleep for hours. He is clean in the house, playful but not pushy with other dogs and a real charmer all round.
Sooner is not too strong on the lead and (unless there is a particularly interesting blade of grass) you barely know he is there. If you are looking for a gorgeous, affectionate, young dog who is so soft and soppy yet so intelligent and full of fun, then look no further Sooner is the one for you!

What a love bug! All this girl wants is cuddles – she is super affectionate and would make someone a wonderful companion. She is calm, gentle and walks perfectly on the lead.

Lady is a fabulous fun-loving and affectionate girle who absolutely adores toys! She is a natural retriever and will fetch any toy you throw for her. She also loves her cuddles and will make someone a wonderful companion. She can waver around a little on the lead but just needs a bit more practise walking in a straight line! She walks at a nice steady pace, without pulling.

PAMPER'S STORY
30-07-09 Pamper is a 6 year old ex breeding Mini Schnauzer who wasn’t wanted as she had to have a c-section to have pups. She is a quiet and bewildered little lady at the moment and will need a home with another gentle, kind dog to help her.
04-08-09 UPDATE

We discovered the reason for Pamper’s bewilderment - she has Cataracts. We cannot possibly deny Pamper the same success and joy to life that Imagine (our other Schnauzer) is experiencing - so we have to find another £3,500 to give her the opportunity.
20-08-09 UPDATE
The Ophthalmologist feels it is definitely worth trying to remove the Cataracts even though her sight may not be left perfect (as it would have if they’d been removed earlier).
11-10-09: Although the Vet didn’t manage to fit artificial lenses, he did manage to remove the Cataracts from both eyes improving her sight immensely – what a difference already!!! She now races around the room and is often caught watching TV – it is such a wonderful gift to give – so a huge THANK YOU everyone for making it possible. Pamper is just a joy to have around! She is so friendly and has settled in very well with the other dogs. She is totally clean in the house, is quiet at night and is just the perfect little companion! She’s such a lovely dog and showed such bravery. All she needs now is a forever home!!
03-11-09 UPDATE
Pamper has been back to see her consultant and he is very pleased with her progress. One of her eyes is still a little sore, so needs more frequent eye drops – and she will need another check in 1 month. It should be fine for her to go to her new home, but preferably within travelling distance of Abingdon in Oxfordshre so she can go back to her vet for check ups. She is the nicest little schnauzer I have ever met – and will enhance anybodies life! She is a little shy until she gets to know you, and a little upset by load noises – so a home without children would be best for her. She loves the other little dogs, and makes them all play with her. Her recall is fantastic as she just loves to be petted, so just can’t get to you quick enough. She is totally clean in the house, good with the cats – she is just the perfect little house guest.

29-05-09 Emma is a special girl needing a special home – She’s a 3½ year old Mini Schnauzer ex breeding bitch. She had only come in a few weeks ago but sadly has been returned because her adopter's vet found she had a low grade heart murmur. Emma is very scared and will need time and help to adapt. She will also need a home with another small gentle and kind dog to be her friend and a dedicated owner who has the time and patience for her to blossom.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. 04-07-09 Imagine is a 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer who was no longer needed by her breeder. She was initially very nervous of people, being handled and had problems with her eyesight but this was operated on in the hope of restoring her sight. Please read Imagine’s journey of hope and bravery.

23-07-09 UPDATE
The Ophthalmologist was delighted with Imagine’s progress. It is absolutely wonderful to see what a different dog Imagine is, now that she has been given the precious gift of sight. She loves to run and play with my own dogs and is even starting to notice toys and to share in chasing after them! From a rather solemn little soul, she is now just full of joy and energy. She is fascinated by the return of the visual world: it was just amazing to see her sit and watch the flight of a butterfly with doggie wonderment on her sweet little face!
22-08-09 UPDATE
Imagine continues with her daily eye drops as one of the Haptics (tiny devices that secure the lens) had moved so underwent corrective surgery. Although this wasn’t causing her a problem, it would have eventually caused permanent adhesions.
11-10-09 UPDATE
Imagine’s Haptic had moved again, so this time the surgeon rotated the prosthetic lens in the hope of giving a greater structural integrity. She will need to re-visit the Vets for a check up in a month. At this stage, any immediate potential adopter needs to be living in the Berkshire or Oxfordshire area (so her check up appointment may be met) until she can be signed off at the Vets.
03-11-09 UPDATE.
Imagine has been checked by the Ophthalmologist, and he is pleased to say that unless any complications occur, she will not need to be seen again for three months, although she must stay on eye drops twice daily.
Imagine is a real darling who’s had such a heart warming journey! She arrived very fearful of people, situations and of life in general but is blossoming and progressing beautifully! She’ll certainly need to live with another confident, gentle, small dog (she likes Schnauzers best, and is fearful of larger dogs) and her new owner will need to be patient and understanding. All relationships in life need work and I do think this little dog is a real case of "nothing worth having ever comes easy" because although she’ll certainly need a specially caring home, she’ll be such a rewarding member of the family once she has fitted in and stolen everyone's hearts. She is good at that!!
