The Friends of Many Tears was founded in January 2006. We are still growing in number and always welcome anyone with an interest in raising funds for Many Tears. We have our own website www.friendsofmanytears.co.uk and from there will keep you up to date with all the news and lots of ways that you can help. We raised a magnificent £10,500 in our first year and £28,460 in our second. We need to aim high again for 2009 as the need to find homes for unwanted dogs and cats continues. So we really need your support. Please read below and on our website to see if there is any way that you can help. We are always looking for collectors at street collections. Could you send us your unwanted foreign currency? Have you joined Lily's Lotto? Would you like to join our standing order scheme? Please don't just sign on, look at the pictures of the dogs and sign off. Make your visit count, if everyone that signed on did just one thing for the Friends of Many Tears we would raise an amazing amount in 2009.
Our street collections in 2008 were very successful. We have now arranged some of the collections for 2009 and these are listed below. We need help with these as the more people that are out on the street the more money we will collect. If there is anyone who can bring a dog along please do so as, from past experience, it is the dogs that collect the money. Maybe you have had a dog from Many Tears and would like to help by bringing that dog along and collecting for whatever time you can spare. Please let us know if you can help at any, even if it is just an hour or two. Look out for new dates and venues as they are added:

USED POSTAGE STAMPS
Whether you have a few or big bags full please consider collecting and donating to Many Tears. Please send to:
Helen Rees
5 Ffynnon y Waun
Ponthenri
Llanelli
Carmarthenshire SA15 5PH
e-mail: helen.welsh@googlemail.com
Any used stamps are accepted but foreign stamps can earn us even more money, so if you can collect those along with UK stamps we would be very grateful. Please note that stamps should be trimmed from the envelope leaving a half-centimetre border around the stamp. Do not steam or peel them off as they are worth less without a backing or if they're damaged. We will collect into large amounts and sell to raise much needed funds. So come on, please start collecting.
Lily's Lotto is a great way for us to raise funds. For just £1 per month (£12 payable annually) you can help the dogs and be in with a chance of winning a cash prize. Hi it's Lily here

You may be aware that one of the busiest times for Sylvia and Many Tears is the period leading up to Christmas and through into the New Year. Most other rescues close down at this time of year but Many Tears stays open and takes in as many dogs as it can which places a huge strain on resources. So, to plan ahead for that time of year when extra funds are needed we run our Saved for Christmas Dogs Appeal.
We always present a cheque and dog treats in December so will continue this appeal into 2009. Find yourself a jar, dish or bottle and simply save your 20p pieces whenever you receive one in your change. It may only be a few a week and you will hardly miss them but over the year they will build up into a nice sum, especially if there are lots of us involved. Sometime in November, you will be asked to pay your collection into your bank and then send a cheque payable to the Friends of Many Tears (mark the back of the cheque Christmas Dogs).
In December, we will present Sylvia with a cheque that will hopefully ease some of the weight on her mind just before one of the busiest times of the year. We also aim to get some press coverage for the handover to alert people that there will be more dogs looking for homes after the holiday period.

Please visit our SHOP PAGE where you will find a range of greetings cards, some lovely hand knitted dog coats and a stylish pen for sale. Our web shop helps us raise valuable funds. |

We are now saving foreign currency. We all come back with little bits that we can do nothing with but if you want to help us please send any notes to:
Danny Westwood
9 Gallivan Close, Little Stoke, Bristol BS34 6RW
We will collect it all together and change into sterling. At present the only coin we can take is Euros. No amount is too small as it all adds up. Please note that the old currency from countries that now use the euro is of no value.
